Books are still good, chances are very high the ending will hold up if Martin is really going with this where I think he is. Which, he probably is considering hid other works.

It's got good scenes which make the slog worthwhile. Last weeks "hold the door" scene was great, if anything cause it revelaed the closed time loop. In fact, all the Bran scenes are good. As are all the Ramsey scenes as well.

He does, that's the map from the book titled "The World of Ice and Fire" which is basically an encyclopedia and history book on the entire universe. If you think Tolkein did a fuckton of lore, just you wait till you look into all the stuff Martin wrote.
