RE1/2 are above average at best, 3 is the best in the series, and 4 outright sucks.
As far as unarmed tag-alongs, go, Ashley's probably the best escort quest I can think of gameplay wise.
She readily chills out in dumpsters for most of the game, and the enemy's usually more concerned with trying to carry her off than one-shot-killing her.
