Because I'd rather play a game where I can make honest choices from a player perspective without feeling as though I'm gimping myself in the process.

I mean, if the game expects me to go all good or evil with no inbetween, why even have a choice in the matter to begin with? Seems completely counter intuitive to the whole "play it your way" perspective.

Why even play the game?

In games with morality systems, too often being noble and self sacrificing doesn't actually negatively impact the player in any way. This leads to "bad" choices being simply sadistic for no reason other than "lolsoedgy". Also, trying to present moral choices as being either good or bad often leads to devs trying to pass off their own opinions as objective fact. Neutral options reign in this kind of shitty writing to a certain extent by introducing a middle ground which is sorely missing from most vidya scenarios.
