Anyway, it's fucking hilarious how bad it looks. It looked good when it was first announced, but EVERY single new reveal has just made it seem shittier. The preview pic for the video looks like a fucking CGI commercial from the late 90s.
The joke "Make the bad guys cry like an anime fan on prom night" hurt my feelings. It is not acceptable to insult people who already have social difficulties. Sometimes I feel like I'm unlovable because I'm 25 and never had a girlfriend, and that joke only hurt my feelings further, making me feel like my inability to find love makes me a "bad guy."
I will not buy such a hurtful product, and I hope in the future they will learn not to be so cruel.

That concept art swindled more people than you realize. That was one of the big things that sold it, putting the fact it was gonna be a modern 2.5D under the rug and hiding how bad it would be in comparison to those pictures.
So I just revisited the demo to see if I could warm up to it after the last time I played it.
The whole dash to finish thing I'm still not fond of, your pea shooter is a little too weak especially when it comes to bosses. Enemies are obstacles which are fine, but it feels like that's all I'm doing at times.
There's a heavy emphasis on combos, absorbing the Xel of an enemy with 100% absorption starts a combo, and it only drops if you absorb less than 100%. This includes if you decide to set up multiple foes for absorption at once and not all of them are 100%, so whilst you get the multiplier bonus you drop the combo.
You get 100% if you absorb them quickly without shooting them more than necessary, so what you get is a game where you very carefully count your shots and dispatch enemies one at a time if necessary to maintain a combo.
It's easy to miss if you've absorbed enough blue Xel to replenish your life energy like an E-Tank, but this system means you can tank hits and focus on comboing with little repercussion.
Bosses can pose a threat, but it can be for the worst reasons.
The electric girl throws conduits all over the place, and if you don't remove the ones on the floor you'll have a hard time dodging her main attack. It's not obvious at all but you can hold right-trigger and shoot to perform a jumping shot towards the floor, if you've not learned this you're in for a bad time.
Bosses have vocal cues so you can anticipate certain attacks and dodge them, the fire boss for example, most of his attacks consist of run towards you and do something. You're only going to know what if you've learned his voice cues, but mid-battle you get dialogue kick-in and you can no longer depend on these cues. I couldn't observe any particular visual clue to his attack patterns so it was a problem.
I did end up enjoying it more than the first time I played it but I still felt that the stages were lacking, and the combat just doesn't work well.
