Tell me /v/, what's the most boring farming you've ever had to do for something in a game?
The only thing worse than this shit right here was trying to get the Sword of Kings in Earthbound. 1/128 my ass, shit took me like five hours real time with the emulator set at like 5x speed.
I think some older RPGs had worse drop rates than DoS, although it really had no excuse for that shit.
Trying to get just one fusable sword drop in midgame SMT II took at least a day or so. That shit was fucking awful, but there are probably worse things. I didn't even try to get the Fiend Staff drops, those things looked actually insane to go for.

i usually would use puppet to get behind him, change sets to curry + valmanway + dancer ghost soul and the 777 gear with soul eater ring

Carbuncle's Ruby in FFXI. It's a ~1% drop on an item that's required to start a quest that will unlock a job.
My first time farming it took me a week, then a few days to finish the job quest since that's luck based as well. Shit is horrifying.

The casino is easywith save scumming
Just bet on 1/3rd of the Roulette Table with as much as you can, if you start losing too many tokens then just go back to an old save. But once you have enough tokens to max out a third of the board it's rare to actually start losing tokens.
I tried to get a fiend to spawn in SMT IV for two hours, never happened and I just said fuck it

I save scummed, but I did it using the slot machine that took the most tokens.
It felt magnificent when I finally got triple 7s.

That's what I did in DQV in the first casino (I can't fucking believe I got 5 7's within like the first hour) and that gets you enough to get everything you could ever want from the Casinos in that game since they all sell the same stuff. But in DQVIII the roulette wheel is the far more reliable method.
Think it took me like 2 months to get an item in Dark Age of Camelot that allowed me and my party to turn into a cat...
