he's extremely good, but he's extremely weak. you do much more healing with mercy/lucio, and you don't go through nearly as much fucking horseshit. you just don't do nearly as much damage.
if you have a friend or are coordinated with a reinhardt, zenyatta is great on attack. orb anything and tell your pharrah in the sky to blast them twice and they're gone.

I love playing as Zenyatta because you can easily heal from far away as long as they're in your LoS and he has great damage output. Marking people that jump all over the place like Tracer or a sniper like Widowmaker with Orb of Discord is really helpful as well.
