Although I agree Poochie and Crash has some similarities in personality, they are not the same.
Poochie has to be an ADDITION to a long-running franchise, that's what make Poochie "Poochie".
Example would be Dil and Kim in Rugrats, altough they're cool.

The SNES was released in the US in 1991 and the main audience were people born in the 80s, people born in the 90s were too young to have memories of when the SNES was new.
On the other hand, PS1 was released in 1995 but it didn't really started to get more popular until the late 90s.
Still, I'm not saying it's utterly impossible that a kid born in the 90s played the SNES. You could have had older siblings who owned the SNES or even your own parents, but yeah if you were born after 1990, that means you were still a toddler when the PS1 came out, and a literal baby or unborn when the SNES came out.
