Ace Attorney and 999/VLR.

Professor Layton is composed 90% of dumb puzzles that barely require logic at all. Dangitronpaul is way too easy and the game handholds you through any difficult parts.

Ace Attorney only started handholding on the latest game (DD) and even then it was still a wild ride. 999/VLR's story plot twists are obviously not difficult to pull at all because you don't need to do anything to trigger them (other than the right choices), but the actual "escape the room" segments are pretty interesting

Those two are probably the only vidyas that can legitimately expand someone's intellect

I assume you've played TIS-100 and Infinifactory? Human Resource Machine is pretty good, its like a Zachtronics take on C rather than Assembly. Its a lot easier than Zachtronics games though and much less open, there's usually just one optimal solution that the devs have figured out ahead of time.

Get roboports covering your base, and set a logistic provider chest at the end of your common items like belts and inserters and poles and lights and ammo, and get a smart inserter with something like insert if there's <1k of this item in the network, then set your logistic request to keep you updated on those items, you'll never have to worry about running back and forth to retrieve them again.

I go for full bus, minimal robots. It's very space-consuming, though.

My only issue with Factorio is how defenses can be kind of tedious. My last game, I just went with pic related, though, and I didn't have any problems.

Some people say you need to read the fuckload of wiki to play it decently, but I think that's total bullshit, the best part about this game is playing blind to figure out all the billion hidden mechanics by yourself, and how they all influence your gameplay, to the point where you are actually capable of predicting what at first seems like completely random and chaotic combat system.

The puzzles where you disassemble on one end of a portal and reassemble on the other are really fun, I'd recommend playing them at least.

Pic related, my horribly inefficient machine for the final portal puzzle, after spending hours working on it, I am unreasonably proud of the piece of shit.

Infinifactory has the best learning curve and is the most accessible of the three since you aren't near as limited on space. I'd say its probably the best one though Spacechem probably has more depth.

In Spacechem and Tis-100 you have limited space to solve your problem, but in Infinifactory you have pretty much as much room as you need to solve the problem you're given.
If you run out of room you can just move it up or down in 3D space, which you can't do in the other games since they're 2D

They're often useless with all the yellow scans you get. Stealth is OP. Start from a room with only your scout done, stealth and open door, peek inside, and if you find an enemy you either return quickly or wait for it to move to the room you came from.

Swap one of your working drones' upgrades with its tow upgrade and haul ass, seriously there are tons of ways to recover from fuckups.I

was at 15 days when a typo in console wiped most of my drones. I had enough stuff to scrap and get my single drone and a disabled spare drone set up, as well as repairmy ship's remote power. Went on to 35 days before I accidentally destroyed the only generator in the ship I was exploring, locking all my drones in. I might have been able to recover from that too but a bug made me have to Alt+F4 and when I came back my progress had reset.

I scan for the next rooms, move safely to the green ones, and scan again on it. When you encounter a yellow signature and you're not sure about it go back one room, and monitor the continuous green one with the doors open. Almost always the threat will come out to the green area and you will pick it up on the sensor, effectively telling you if it was safe in the end. Lure and trap or avoid now.

Or eject the motherfucker to space.

You can start a run of FTL with no method of winning it, you've already lost and you just don't know it yet. It's decent fun but it ended up being too RNG for my taste. Played it for 20 hours and never again, don't regret donating to the kickstarter though.

It's great, it's a roguelike and it's not like Spacechem or Factorio engineering, but it's always a challenge because the game premise is:

You're on a derelict ship held together with hopes and dreams and some ducktape
Life in the known galaxy was misteriously wiped out, no bodies
No answers
No one to hear your S.O.S.
And you have to manage to hold together and keep looking for survival with shitty drones, faulty scanners, deteriorating systems and improvisation and luck

Lots of improvisation and luck with what you have at hand

So it's very great. Very atmospheric too.

Only thing I don't like is the random event where a room suddenly gets flooded with radiation without any warning, and can even happen on stable ships.

I had it happen twice over two missions that fucked me over. First time it suddenly blocked off the only usable airlock in a large room and I was forced to run all my drones through it, and didn't have the scrap to repair them afterwords. Second time happened on a stable ship when all my drones were in one room and killed them all before I could react.

The game can force dangerous plays on you, but the radiation leaks are some bullshit.
