By saying that the game you like is shit, they feel powerful. Since being a loser irl is humilating, the only way to feel somehow relevant is to attack other people beliefs and opinions, not even providing a point, but just by shitposting.

Here is my recommendation for everyone ever.
Resident Evil 6.
It gets shit on a ton because it's not scary or like the 'original resident evils', but here is why you should go give it an honest try.

1. Resident Evil has never been scary or survival horror post RE1. RE2 forward gave you so much ammo and herbs you could just brute force your way through the entire game on the hardest difficulty, not to shit on them though they are great and better than 6.
2. The control are probably the most perfect controls In any game ever. They feel so fluid and fun which makes replaying the game jolly good fun.
3. Mercs mode is one of the greatest. I prefer Raid mode personally, but RE6 Mercs is still top tier.
4. There is a ton of content in the game if you want to explore it.

Sure, the game is way better with Coop, but it is also super fun solo. If you do however want to opt for Coop, try and get a couple of friends to play, because they have this 'invasion' mode where you can invade other peoples games as an enemy.

The story isn't the best, but it's definitely cool to see all the campaigns crossover and come together.

The Tales of series is pretty good. The stories are good to fucking terrible but the gameplay is the most enjoyable of any jRPG in my opinion.

I want a game where I have to use everything available to me in order to succeed. No hoarding items, no ignoring a build or mechanic because it's cheap or overpowered. I'd also prefer it to be intended for one long playthrough rather than many short ones.

No One Lives Forever

Classic FPS from 1999. Since the genre has more or less gone completely stagnant since Modern Warfare came out, NOLF's mechanics are still cutting edge and enjoyable.

You'll adjust to the graphics pretty quickly, if you even need to at all. Even the AI is decent. Oh and the story is really fun!

The trick is finding the game. You'll have to find a download somewhere.

Top shelf game though.

Marvel Heroes.

They are currently finishing up their Civil War event, so you can get 2 free random heroes.

I have a steamlink and I broke down and bought a steam controller too. It's OK but I find myself using my 360/one controller more often than not.

What are some good games to use with the steam controller. I've already played through portal with it, and with some tweaking, I played a few hours of Spehs Muhrine.

I'm considering some turn based games so I can take time to build up the muscle memory of the controller.

Which PS should i get?
2, 3, or 4.
I'm leaning towards 3 because of hd releases and backwards compatibility. PS4 backwards compatibility seems gimmicky at best.

Fuck it, gonna turn this thread into my personal dumping ground for recommendations.

The Lost Crown, comfy as fuck ghost hunting adventure game, for a time when horror wasn't just a visceral, monster-gonna-kill-you type deal but more slow and eerie experience about strange hauntings. Ever read a ghost story by M.R. James? This game essentially takes all the tropes of a Jamesian story and puts it into game form, and it's perhaps the ONLY game that adapts this particular flavour of M.R. James-type horror into a video game, so basically it's rare as fuck.

Actually, James wrote a fuckton of horror stories and many of the games we attribute to being 'Lovecraftian' today are actually more Jamesian. Penumbra and Amnesia for example are every bit M.R. James as they are Lovecraft. M.R. James had his share of creepy monsters and demons.

But yea, this game has none of that and focuses mainly on the ghost/hauntings aspect of M.R. James ghost stories. But even then it's not scary. The great thing about this game is how comfy the English town is (it feels like a virtual vacation to the English countryside) and how surprisingly extensive it is. You basically go around town reading up on local legends, exploring the town's many points of interest, and talking with the local residents while taking photos and recording possible areas of haunting. Oh and it's based on the real Cornish city of Polperro, so after playing the game you could actually visit Cornwall to visit some of the real life locations used in the game.

Only first gen PS3's had backwards compatibility, and they are either expensive to buy, or YLOD'd.

Get a PS4 and if you have an average internet connection, you can use PSNow for PS3 games.
Just emulate PS2 games.
>>
>>339275041
Even if Transistor has mediocore characters, the music, voice acting and combat is great. While the base combat can be repetitive, the combat is based around a system where you can have 3-4 skills from about 20, and you put one skill as an upgrade inside another skill to make it different.
So for instance your basic ranged laser attack can be a wide laser, a laser that splits 3 ways, laser thats really short but does huge melee damage, laser thats animation is really fast etc,

Costume Quest. If you grew up in the western world in the '80s or '90s and even remotely enjoyed Halloween as a child, this game will let you relive those memories.

It's short and simple but it has great setpieces and a lot of heart. Actually its length being short is probably a good thing as any longer would be overstaying its welcome. As it exists, this game is probably the video game equivalent of Hocus Pocus.

If you are renting 1 game at a time, it's not worth it.
But you can get a subscription and it lets you play all the games anytime.
There is either 1 week or 1 month free trial, so give it a try to see if your connection is good enough for it.
I only have 20mbs down/ 2mbs up and it works perfectly through LAN. Wifi is shitty though.

That being said.
SotC and Okami can all be emulated on PC.
MGS1-3 can also be emulated, MGS4 is a movie so youtube it. PW can be emulated. V is on PC and piss easy to run.
GoW 1-2 can be emulated. After that they start to get shitty.

How the fuck can any of you faggots actually recommend a PS4? Especially OVER a ps2 or ps3? ps2/ps3 are obviously so much fucking better than that piece of shit the PS4. The ps2 alone has more games the ps4 or ps3 will ever have combined. But on that note, the BC ps3 is the superior, perfect playstation/gaming machine in my correct opinion. It was made right before sony starting going to straight shit, and still has a few of the dope franchises and developers from the PS2 era. The ps4 is not back compatible WITH EVEN THE PS1. The first playstation model to not play PS1 games even though it literally could, easily. They took ps1 functionality away from us, likely to keep us focused on the new horse shit and not think about how much better things were in the ps1 days. For the fucking gamers right? Fuck sony so hard, even the ps3 should have been way fucking better with a lot more games, ps2 should've had 480p output, etc. And now you recommend this faggot a PS4 when we all know the new version of PS4 is coming? You LITERALLY MUST BE A SHILL. Jesus christ why does anyone still come here. Community is dead and over run by normie fucking overwatch loving fucking faggot retards

This game is a very UNIQUE horror/thriller game.

Gameplay and dialogue are meh, but it shines with making use of its backdrop and setpieces really well.
Basically it's set in Salem using the witch trials as a backdrop. The story is great and has a neat twist. You go around collecting snippets of ghost stories that basically add up to assorted fully narrated creepypasta which I'm a sucker for.

It's short though. Don't buy it for full price.
>>
>>339277339
Also PSnow is the worst fucking bullshit ever, no one in their right mind uses that shit at all, or playstation plus for that matter. Only retards or normies who don't know how to buy games or look up fair prices on pricecharting.com. Feel terrible for all the faggots playing ps4 being forced to pay for the worst version of playstation. Like god damn the youth is retarded as fuck to eat this shit up, you know the next console is gonna be so fucking shit because all their terrible practices on the ps4 just got completely justified because you faggots bought the hell out of it even with literally no games.

This is not an unique cult classic that has it flaws but brings interesting ideas to the table.
This is a steaming pile of unoriginal shit that was done lazily. The characters, the story, the gameplay, the voice acting, the code. Everything was done with no skill or heart behind it
>>
>>339278290
>The characters, the story, the gameplay, the voice acting, the code.
I concede all that was shit, but the narrated creepypasta and the (albeit superficial) historical exploration of Salem wasn't.

I actually wish more games would be set in real life locations and explore some of the real legends about those places. God knows it's not a shortage of lore that's the issue.
