I need to find a good cheap gaming laptop, it doesn't have to run everything just a few basic games like portal 2 tf2 and cs:go, maybe the assassin creed series

For smooth gaming, you want a laptop with strong dedicated GPU (Nvidia or AMD) with its own vRAM. A decent multicore CPU (preferably > 2Ghz) and over 4GB RAM also help quite a bit.

Look up the Asus' G-series, Lenovo's Y-series, or MSI's laptops. All of them offer great price:performance ratio. Avoid the Alienware-crap, they're overpriced shit running with the brand.
You can try checking out Ebay or something for used machines as well, and save yourself a couple hundred

Alternatively go to pcspecialist.co.uk, and customize your very own gayming laptop.

You shouldn't completely shoot down otherwise great laptops with only integrated video chips. Especially Intel's HD Graphics series have improved tremendously in the last few years, and anything from HD 4000 forward can run majority of modern games at 720p/low, most pre-2010 titles even on higher settings.
Both Lenovo Y50 and Asus' latest G7(x) models can be found for even less than 1000 bucks at best.

The now bit older Lenovo y510p has i7, 8GB DDR3, and two GTX 750M cards. Packs also 1080p screen, and was selling originally for 900$, and now is around 700$. The newer Y50 packs better specs, and apparently a brand new version's again out.

nope, not bait. Tell me what you have against it, especially against this specific model

I own a cheap gaming laptop, don't listen to /v/ saying it doesn't exist. Although, some of the most demanding games like Witcher 3 require the lowest settings. But it can run everything.

But look at what you need in games, 13 inch laptops are extremely expensive if you want good gaming capabilities, for a cheap gaming laptop you probably have to go 15.
>>
>>339267226
this model (alienware 13) costs about 900$
look at it for a second and tell me what you think
>>
>>339267261
Alienware is overprice garbage
All of them are
No exceptions
>>
>>339267374
good, I like 15 inch, I don't like it too small, I just want it portable

Not OP but is the GTX 960m good if I'd play shit at 1368x768?

Get a rMBP, it has power to run any of those games.

You can definitely get better for the price but I don't know good places to buy in america.

>>339267479
It's alright

>>
>>339267380
It's all around OK, and will run anything you throw at it, at least on bit lower settings. That 768p monitor helps performance and temps, as less processing power is needed for resolution alone.

The "Ultra" type mobile Intel CPUs actually refer to "ultra low-power", meaning it's a bit weaker than the higher end models (HQ). It's also only dual-core.
>>
>>339267746
not from america, keep going
gonna look at the video in a little, looking at the first video atm

>>339267798
so in general it's pretty good for basic projects, programming and my games
>>
>>339267471
Well, 15 is portable, but I wish it was better for watching anime on the train with, it's a bit too big.

My the laptop I use is an Asus F550J.
CPU: i5 4200 H - 2.8-3.4 GHz
Ram: 6 GB (can upgrade to up to 12)
Screen: non-glossy, 1080. (but a bit weak light)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce Gtx 850m (apparently the worst part, just good enough)

Also, a bit big and poor batterly life, but I paid only 3/5 the price of the cheapest Alienware 13 (but it was on sale)

I needed much cpu because I wanted to play Cities Skylines and do emulation, but only a few games require this much CPU, so if you don't want that stuff you may be able to focus more on GPU instead and get better graphics.
>>
>>339267479
it's more than enough for that.
Heck, I still play with GTX 560ti 1GB from 2011, at 1920x1200, on my desktop!

>>339267864
>so in general it's pretty good for basic projects, programming and my games
Yes.
I got also this older craptop from 2012, with i3 @ 2.1ghz, 6GBN DDR3 and GT 540M 1GB, and it too can run most games decently.

Out of some newer titles, Talos Principle runs smoothly at ~medium settings, some specific options set to low, and I also use 30fps lock to keep the temps from rising (it's a puzzle game, so no need for 200fps). Also can run MGS5 at 720p/Low/30fps, and it looks around the same as on prev-gen consoles, but poor thing clearly struggles with that already.
Most pre-2010 titles it can run flawlessly.

Most gaming laptops suck nowadays, especially ayylmaoware since they started soldering their cpu and gpu. So either buy a cheap gaming laptop like the Lenovos Y series or whatever comes with a 960m, buy a used olg gaming laptop for cheap (M18x R2, some clevos, etc), or spend a lot of money on a new Clevo 17 which are the only ones with removable components nowadays.

why did you completly disregard the one I asked about?
