I suppose these features would probably cost Valve millions to develop. We should just be grateful instead of complaining right? I'm sure they are working really hard on Half-Life 2 Episode 3 as well, they've only missed the dead line by 10 years.
>>
none of those features are necessary. it's your own fault you have 2,000 hours on TF2 and everyone can see it, you faggot.
>>
You dont want people to know you played Huniepop?

why do you care about any of that shit?

I know you're memeing. but is there people who really think HL3/HL2/EP3 is still on development?
>>
You added a bunch of anime faggots didn't you? Sure the Erp is great at first, and he'll pretend to be whatever the fuck you want, but then you get the entire package. And that package contains needy, crazy, and obsessive.

don't like it, don't use it.

no one is forcing you to use steam. if you want your privacy, you will have to go without steam.

What do you want to show on a public profile, then? It's not clear to me why you shouldn't just keep your profile private.

There may not be a large audience for these features, but some people would make use of it. There's no reason not to have them.

I'm surprised it took so long just to get a "remove game" function outside of refunds.

what could you possibly have been through to warrant this thread?
>>
>>339263443
Yeah, this seems to be problem for people in this thread to grasp. Adding checkmarks in settings to disable view of recent games, friend's list, etc., hardly forces other players to use them.

Steam really needs a lot more features. Being able to search games without certain tags is a big one. Searching within a range of prices would be another.

Since when? Does it set you to online if you send a message while you're set offline?

this probably happened to OP.
People who have mass hours in games and refuse to admit theyre bad or learn how to get better usually get buttmad over this stuff.

You're forgetting that this is the company that removed the ability to change your text colour and drop the colon in chat for, no bullshit, "security reasons"
>>
>>339262146
All of these are features I would find useful, when you present them to Valve try not to sound like a buttblasted child and maybe they'll consider it.
>>
>>339264832
People used it to pretend to be steam admins. I know this because someone tried it on me. I didn't fall for it because I am not retarded but I can see how it would fool an 11 year old for instance.

better than listening to the whining of a large group of idiots. there's a reason they put signs on electric fences that say 'dont piss on this, it'll shock you', because people did it and COMPLAINED, despite what should be obvious
>>
>>339265631
Solution: opt-in feature with a warning on it. Y'know, the actual equivalent of a warning sign.
>>
No one really cares about what you play, except for dota2/csgo retards
>>
>steam calculates the 'last online' times in the friends window locally
>if a friend goes offline while you've got steam open, their 'last online' time will reset to zero
>but if you click on their profile and view the webpage version, it will show the time that they last disconnected from steam - which may be hours or days ago
>also steam still displays all of your last played times, which can reveal that you've played something today when steam says you were last online yesterday

It's literally THIS easy to find out if someone set themselves to invisble

What's the point of even having the mode?
>>

I think you guys are all missing the biggest issue here.

DRM.

It's bad enough that you need an account and need to be logged in to play a game on Steam, but then there are also some games that force you to use a secondary DRM to play it.

Why are we allowing this?
>>
>>339266739
Dont buy on steam then. Buy on GoG or other places.

Steam is the least intrusive DRM out there
>>
>>339266001
This is why the feature doesn't exist.
>>
>>339263085
You do realize that Steam is basically PC gaming at this point right?

Most PC gaming requires Steam.

It's true there are other sites that don't require you to use DRM, but they don't have all the games Steam does.

It's a monopoly that the PC gaming community allowed.

well you can't actually receive messages and have a proper conversation while appearing offline, so that's just a lie

so how can you hide games played, hours on games played, you friends list, past names, or badges without completely making your profile private from everyone including your friends
>>
>>339262146
Be glad you have that much control. Fuck, on bnet you can't even go invisible.

And the work around someone found got patched, yet the dev team says it's something they want to work on, but it's 'just so hard'.

You can.
It takes some trick but you can. I do that all the time.

>so how can you hide games played, hours on games played, you friends list, past names, or badges without completely making your profile private from everyone including your friends
You make your profile completely private.

There are 400 millions users on Steam and nobody is going to cater to your very specific retarded need.

It does not matter who is in charge of Steam, Ubisoft or Origia or some random retarded company. Wanan make your shit private - make it private, end of story.
