Has anyone played this game recently? I have an itch for classic RTS but not sure if there's a community left.
There was an effort to make an AoE II general on /vg/ a few days ago.

considering is a game from 1999, i say is good. At least you will always find people to play. For example UT99 barely has 100-200 users in the original version.

It still has a large and healthy community. If you search on Youtube, you can find a lot of informational videos such as comparisons of units and civs. You can also find a lot of commentated matches.
It's unfortunate that hardly anyone plays AoE3 now though.
