I'll actually be coming back around June 7th just to get the emote from that Gold Saucer event. The new patch content is a happy coincidence. Should be easy to complete in a month and then unsub til 3.4.
Honestly there's nothing worth doing in my eyes that warrants a sub or even just buying 30 days. The game doesn't feel that deep because of how the battle system / itemization is, and the content isn't entertaining long enough because of it. The gear treadmill doesn't interest me and I'm not looking forward to grinding the next tomestone or relic or whatever they have planned. I do like the main quest and riding the new "rides" for the first time is somewhat fun, but I'll be waiting for a free week to do that.

Im on the border of quitting, and only my friends in the LS/FC are keeping me going. Logging in feels like a chore.

Basically I spend like 5 hours a day logging in to do mandatory things on a cycle before I can even decide to do optional stuff. I tend to believe that if the game didn't have "Final Fantasy" in the title, people wouldn't tolerate it once they get close to endgame.
- Rewards are basically worthless and 100% completely replaced every few months. Nothing is unique, special, or actually valuable.
- Endgame is uninspired Simon Says where it's more important to know the fights' mechanics than it is to be good at your job unless they throw in a DPS check.
- Patronizingly easy content. Like... easy easy EASY. Players routinely reach high ilvl while still being clueless about how to play their class. All difficulty is artifical in the form of team-jumprope + OHKO.
- World pretty aesthetically but bland, static, and plastic with no threat or adventure. Virtually impossible to die outside.
- No risks taken with design. New content often feels like triage-mode development, trying to keep people interested.
- Zero-accountability status-quo development in keeping with SE's "you will play our game our way" mentality.
- Instances are 100% completely scripted. Fights are Identical every time you do it to the point you can run them with your eyes closed after one clear, or less if you watched a vid.
- Terrible, toxic community, likely thanks to all of the above.
- Virtually no character customizability. Truly only one "best" way to play every job in the game.
- Fastest way for players to get something they want is to not play the game thanks to SE's overnerfing everything constantly. Eg. having access to better gear AND getting absurd amounts of echo AND having mechanics watered down to the point your greatest risk of failing a run, no matter your ilvl, is of suffering a stroke in real life.
- Content and grind designed to eat up as much of people's time as possible while being just okay enough they won't get fed up. Even stuff as simple as the movement speed is -just- fast enough for most people to not get annoyed.

That said, FF at the best of times has about a 2/3 mill sub number, when Heavensward dropped, it was fucking crazy getting anywhere, it was actually super fun. Nothing was wrong with heavensward, the problem was with the long distance to 3.1 and 3.1 was a disaster. 3.2 was fucking great, and 3.3 looks to be spectacular as well, only problem is it's a drop in a desert so to speak, that three month period without content really set them back, especially since they kept the formula from 2.0 and made it more annoying.

Heavensward, the expac was fucking awesome, glorious new locations, everything being new, the story, the characters all the classic references and characters, the drk 30-50 storyline was fantastic. The dungeons were fun and the writing was spectacular. Heavenward the xpac was great.
Their mismanagement had nothing to do with heavensward itself. I would say that just based on content and fights, heavensward is better than ARR.
What they need to do in spend more time developing interesting content, and tell all the hardcores to fuck off and instead focus more on making a FF MMO rather than a MMO with FF elements.

Start as conjurer if you want to be a white mage. You'll also have to level thaumaturge to 15 to unlock white mage at level 30 though. Well, either thaumaturge or arcanist, but I'm pretty sure it's thaumaturge.
You'll want to get thaumaturge to 26 anyway for Swiftcast as a cross-class ability. It's a 60 second cooldown that makes your next spell instant cast.

In order to be a good whm, you'll level conjurer which is your base class, but you'll also need to level thm to 26, and arc till whatever level you get eye for an eye, 34 or 35.\

Regardless I don't know how long he's been playing but I was like that for a few months and now ALL my beast tribes reps and crafts are maxxed, half my combat classes are maxxed, my anima is up to par, and I'm just storing scrip tokens for the update. If he's really doing all this shit it doesn't take that long to make it so their "potential" no longer exists.The real problem is now I have nothing else to do, since when did MMOs become empty lifeless routines? I preferred it when it was endless grinding and supported actual player interaction. I WISH I could just spend 9 hours a day farming the same mob spot, as long as I was progressing. This staggered progression bullshit that exists just to pad subs ends up killing itself because it leaves so little to actually progress.

The new locations were shit simply based on the fact that they are basically giant hall ways. 6-7 new zones and you go through them like a conveyor belt outside of having to back track once in a while because of stupid story reasons. The dungeons were also pretty garbage simply for the fact that they're all hallways. If a game in another series gets shit on and couldnt get a pass for having hallways for map gameplay, this one shouldn't be able to either.
For an expansion that is meant to last 1-2 years, having all the resources and effort be put into content that people experience for the first couple of month is a sign of design incompetence on the lead's part.
Don't even start on the "he complaints about level cap content that means he wants raiding cancer". Even FFXI's basically-fates reive/wildkeeper style adoulin content is more mmo than XIV's 2 dungeon trash content will ever be.

2.0 suffered the same sort of problems, except was. They added minimum ilevel sync. People weren't gonna do ARR content regardless, and those that want to still do it can. The game is heavily mismanaged and it's obvious that they don't have the resources or the talent to do anything original.

The problem is that you spent seriously like 1-2 hours in each zone and uncovered only like 30% of the map doing so. You barely had time to explore on your own if you were interested in the MSQ. It would have been better if they had drawn it out with more quests across the zones and more backtracking (with purpose).

2.0 reused a lot of assets from 1.0, and even with that they still had like a 2/3 year development time. Heavensward was developed in less time, on a smaller budget, and was as big or bigger than 1.0 and all the stuff in 3.0 was "new" in that they weren't just porting shit over from a previous version.

Talking about collecting little trinkets in Rift reminds me of a similar thing they did in Everquest 2. There would be shiny nodes that would spawn over a map, usually close to a gathering node for materials, and in those you'd find collectibles that you could add to a collection log of sorts or sell them on the marketplace for big bucks. If you completed a collection, you'd get some bonus lore about the species or civilization of trinkets you collected as well as some decent exp and sometimes a piece of furniture, equipment, etc. I'd love for another game to have a similar system.

I seriously feel for anyone that couldn't truly appreciate Knights of the Round.
How the fuck could you turn that into an interesting raid boss without it turning into 13 different knights zerging you?
They really fucking pulled out the stops for that fight in terms of reimagination. It was so beautifully done, and how they played out individual knights as characters, and even used them as bosses in the lower level dungeons. The actual fight itself used each knight in a creative way and still made it feel like you were fighting one boss. This is easily my favorite fight in all of MMORPGs and I've done a fuckton of raiding in other games.
3.3 is looking to be quite robust. I'm looking forward to it. At the very least, it'll keep me occupied for longer than 3.2, which lasted all of a week for me.
The random dungeon could either be incredibly awesome or horribly shitty. I'm leaning towards the latter, but we'll see.
But what I really can't wait for areall of the BRD buffs that we won't get. Throw us a fucking bone, SE. Jesus.

Besides the people that want birds make farming parties for them and don't invite new players to them, further making the repetition of the clear even more monotone.
They need to pull some shit to include new people to endgame.
In my personal experience, if you don't start raiding as SOON as the patch gets released it's hard to find spots for statics because 1-People already set statics on day one or 2-Your gear gets behind because you are not farming the new weekly locked tome. And nobody who isn't your friend is going to help you farm new gear even if you are a tad behind, raiders only want maximum ilvl.
