It's surprisingly technical. It comes across as somewhat simple early on but when you get into the nitty-gritty, the game is fucking deep. It's a shame it's dismissed by most due to its Pokemon IP and its exclusivity on the Wii U.

Seconded, on both counts, especially switching to Japanese voices. Nia's English voice is grating, but her Japanese voice is pure sex. I still turn her Advisor frequency to Off though.
Also, in my experience, Pokken's online is like Sm4sh's in that it benefits heavily from usage of a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.

The resolution is certainly really low but the models and animations are fantastic for the player pokemon
Is the online dead? That's likely my biggest concern with the game and is the deal-breaker; if I can't play online I can't honestly justify purchasing it as it would become a single player fighting game and that's no fun.

you can find matches in 2-3 seconds, the matchmaking is lightning fast
The game is like 3gb, you can easily pirate it and try it out yourself if you have a 4GB card.
