I fucking hate the gc controller, but not because of the button layout or how it feels in the hands, it feels good in the hands.

These pieces of shit break constantly even when you're as gentle as can be with them. You can keep them as clean as can be, never drop them, never even throw them, and they break. The very first one i owned, which was first party, broke after a month in the middle of a game, and my latest one did the same thing. Add to the fact first party controllers for the gc were impossible to find and you have a console ruined by the fact the only options for controllers most of the time were FUCKING MADCATZ. I've gone through twenty of the fucking things because they have the lifespan of a mayfly.

Pic related, it's the controller that just broke. Bitch about shitty controllers here or some shit.

My Gamecube controller has lasted over a decade of almost consistent use, so I really don't know what's wrong with you.

Also, don't Gamecube controllers have the words "Nintendo Gamecube" printed in the middle top area? Where did you get that one from?

They skipped on the nintendium when they made the GC controllers, it's no wonder they're so fragile.

This was the second controller I had. It worked for about 4-5 months and then the B button started to stop working, to the point where you had to press it super hard. I should add that i got my GC at the end of 2004, so first party controllers were basically nowhere.

The n64 controller was a piece of fucking shit too, but not because of the three handles. Who was the fucking idiot that made that control stick? You can't even get third party controllers for that thing with a working stick, can't be done.

Third party controllers may as well be chinese bootlegs as far as the quality of them goes. If you need a new Gamecube controller, buy one of those new black Smash Bros ones. They're officially made by Nintendo, they're fairly cheap, and are of the same quality as a controller made in 2001. (The cord's longer. That's the only difference I can tell.)

I've heard bad things about those, and do those even work on the GC/Wii? I'd expect so, but you'd also expect for them to work in wii mode on the wiiu too, which they dont. honestly that's like the only option for first party anymore

Also, again, first party controllers were impossible to find back then, and when you're 11-12 years old or so, nobody's gonna come out the pocket for a first party controller, which probably cost like 40-50 bucks, when they could get you a piece of GARBAGE like pic related for 20

They work on Wiis. It functions like a normal Gamecube controller. (Because it is one.) It doesn't work in Wii Mode on a Wii U because the adapter made for that console isn't compatible with it. An older Gamecube controller wouldn't work either.

Here's another worthless hunk of plastic. Between the time nintendo stopped selling gc controllers and before they made smash 4 controllers, this was the ONLY gc controller you could get without paying some scalper. The buttons felt like total garbage and the Z button broke quickly.

>>339207883

And just so I'm clear. I'm talking about the black controller with the Smash logo in the center. The other controllers you see based off individual characters are actually Wii Classic Controllers made to look like a Gamecube controller.

Because I guess Nintendo likes confusing people and not making sense by releasing fake Gamecube controllers the same day as Smash Wii U and adapters for real Gamecube controllers.

RPGs and about a couple hours worth of smash shouldnt be enough to break it. Out of nowhere Up and Down broke in the middle of some smash, on both sticks. I dont get what the fucking deal is. I'm not slamming the sticks as hard as i can, but it just breaks.
>>
>>339204725
As a lot of other Anons have said, that is a third party piece of shit. Legit controllers do exist and are like 30 bucks in box on Amazon. Smash 4 controllers, which sliiiiightly different than the originals, are still great.

Don't bitch and blame Nintendo because you're too retarded to find controllers. I have one of every color/style that was available in the US.

>>
>>339209920
>it broke instantly
While it's possible you had a defect, you've shown yourself to be a complete mouthbreather at this point. Either way, they are not known for anything but durability. Even avid Melee players often take 5-10 years to go through a controller completely, and even then usually with a little work you can replace the controlstick and keep on using it. And I promise they put exponentially more hours into it than you do.
>>
>>339204725

I didn't have any other option at the moment, alright? I had thought it would have at least lasted until i could get my hands on a better controller. fucking serves me right for being an impatient fuck

The only big flaw was that you literally shaved off plastic into dust and it ruined the sticks. They are pretty easy to replace the sticks on, Other than that they are insanely durable.

i have 2 of those and they are absolute garbage in every way. i have 2 "generic" xbox controllers and while not as bad, are still shit and break quickly.

why doesn't anyone actually make decent quality 3rd party controllers for old system? probably because the market for them would be those that don't want to spend $30 on a used official controller so they would need to make it for less than that. desu i'd buy a decent 3rd party new controller over an old used official one. i'd at least give it a try.
