I agree the game could have had more cutscenes, better written dialouge, and not having a slowmo scene happen every 12 seconds. But maybe that was the point.
The game is a slog. It was meant to be set up as a microtransaction cash cow from the start. No effort was put into the story. But maybe that's the point. Maybe the point is you should appreciate MGS for what it is and move on. Be your own Big Boss. Follow your own Path. Or follow the same fate as Ahab. Simply to be disposed of. His rise, rather, your rise, his death, rather, YOUR death. Could be the same if you continue this silly fantasy.

This is so true it hurts. The game constantly nags you about creating a FOB when in online and you're severely gimped if you don't have one considering how grindy the game already is compared to fucking Peace Walker. The kicker is that once you acquire a FOB you permanently become a target for invasions 24/7, and combined with slow as fuck gear progression you're forced to constantly regrind your lost gear / resources / high ranking soldiers. The whole second chapter practically not existing and the third "chapter" being a community target, along with the game's ending being "you, the PLAYER are now Big Boss" were all meant to reinforce the shallow and grindy multiplayer component while trying to play it off as something deep and profound.

Venom is subdued, Quiet, and confused because hes a man living a lie, his entire identity is constructed. If you play the prologue and listen to the truth tapes you can hear a substantial difference between kiefer's performances as Venom and the real BB. Shows he was absolutely a better choice than Hayter.
