All those games have been made in the development frame of the new Nier. Its obvious Nier is their focus while those others are games they have to make, even if they dont really want to. Not every company gets to create their dreams every single time, sometimes they have to make compromises.

Star Fox shouldn't really be grouped in with those. The point of the game is to be short to encourage replays and better scores to take alternate routes.

Platinum is only developing/in charge of the actual gameplay portion of Automata since Taro finally realized him and his team can't make gameplay to save their lives, and should just stick to music.

Since the first Nier took around 20 hours for a go around it's safe to give or take a few hours for Automata.

So no need to worry.

4-5 hours is pretty generous for any of Platinums latest releases, all of their Activision licensed games were 3 hours, at most, on the first playthrough. Korra was literally a 90 minute game on the first go.

Hopefully they don't ruin Nier with tons of shitty fucking non-combat sections like they did for Wonderful 101.

Transformers has 50 odd shit missions you can blast through in an hour and never touch again unless you enjoy grinding the last mission for weapons, not sure where you're getting "tons of shit to do" from outside of that, the main story is linear and piss easy on Prime difficulty once you get a single good weapon.

Guess I wasn't very clear, yeah the forest story and pig riding were fine, I was more talking about dedicating huge chunks of potential gameplay time to shit sections like Platinum have done in all of their releases as far back as Bayonetta 1. On rails sections, gimmicky vehicle sections etc.
