What's its name, /v/?

TW3. I don't know why but I stopped playing it after reaching an island with a chest on it, super low hp, no potions, no idea what I'm doing anymore and too lazy to look it up.

Just that part alone, being on the island with like 10 drowners with 1 shot hp just removes my desire to play it and I end up quitting after seeing where I'm at.

I did, however, recently restart the game and am trying to play through it.

Dead Money DLC, New Vegas.
Already played it about 4 times through, perfect dialogue ending 3 times (except Dean, the self-absorbed corpse).
But I fixed it:
>Get to the Villa
>Use portable cheat terminal to bring in Great Bear Vest/ Courier's Pack (mod) with standard Dead Money Jumpsuit, shotgun the uses Microfusion Cells
>Put on more damage mods, mod that gives me a lot of organic loot for hunting purposes
>Put it on Very Hard, Hardcore
>Literally hunting ghosts in a lost city, a treasure behind rusting gates and a necktie filled with a reason to co-operate.

Can't get much more fun, can't wait until Zion.
>>
I just hate playing the beginning of new Vegas. I don't like skipping straight to Vegas because I lose that tasty xp and I don't like sequence breaking, but I really fucking hate the early game now. Once I finish that repconn it's mostly smooth sailing though
>>
>start DA:I because I didn't do the tapestry thing on my first run where you import the shit you did in the other games

Post-Ornstein and Smough in Dark Souls

I figured out a way to avoid doing the same shit over and over but get to explore different possibilities in the main story with a different role-play style.

I did one playthrough where I got to level 40 without committing to any of the main story decisions or allegiances. Did all the DLC except for the Lonesome Road nuke decision, gathered loads of gear etc. Mostly just did all the bonus shit as a "good" character is expected to.

Then I went to the Sink, made 5 seperate saves, turned those 5 saves into 5 different characters (changed the face and hair style/colour with auto-doc, chose different clothes + weapons, allegiances, moral alignment etc). I made sure that in each save slot I could see the character's face because the name is always the same (XBox pleb).

Now I just pick a character from those 5 parallel worlds and role-play as a level 40+ allied to one of the following:

NCR (Brunette, rifles)
Legion (Redhead, Melee/Explosives)
House (Blonde, cowgirl)
Yes Man (Good) (Black hair, pistols/sniper)
Yes Man (Evil) (White hair, sadist weapons)
>>
Civilisation.

I get to the modern era and I'm spending more time on infrastructure than on war or exploration. It turns into Sim City: Civ Edition, wars are slow and predictable, and I slowly lose interest in the game. Every single time.

Wolfenstein: the new order

Great game, but I'm on what I suspect to be some kinda water level (based on the little vehicle I'm given) and I can't bring myself to get through it.

How many games have you abandoned before completion and what are they?

Waiting, unfinished, on my shelf are:
Mass Effect 2
Assassin's Creed
Fallout 3
Red Faction
Red Dead Redemption
Skyrim
Oblivion
Dragon's Dogma
Dark Souls
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Halo 3
Mount And Blade
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Deus Ex

Why can't I finish a game?

i do the same thing...games these days usually just get stale before you beat them

there's a lot of other things you can do on the way to vegas. if you explore all of the off road locations you can be at level 20-25 by the time you get there.

I hate the part in new vegas when you go to that Novac and you have to do that long grind mission, where yo get the.ingrediants for the gauls that want to fly to space or whatever

It's just a mission to get manny to tell you where Benny went. You can skip it completely if you already know
>>
>>339150213
I'm the exact opposite. I love the game up until Vegas. Freeside quests are alright, but I hate the main story. The whole fight for control of Vegas just seems so lame. Like I don't give a fuck about Vegas. I want an ending where I can blow it all up and just laugh at all the stupid factions.
>>
>>339157345
>Sen's Funhouse
Going through it is easy as fuck after the first playhtrough
>>
>>339157405
Ahh now i remember, damn ive had this game for years now. I never knew about this thanks
>>
Metal gear solid seems to have a "that part" in every game.

mgs1: oh you gotta backtrack to get the psg1
oh you gotta backtrack twice to reshape the pal key
mgs2: escorting emma
mgs3: escorting eva
mgs4: all of act 3

also, caesar 3 has one mission mid way through, where the city must be built partly on a crapply shapen island, with lots of wolves on the map. i always stop the game when i reach that part.

I'm in Honest Hearts in my FONV playthrough and honestly just haven't picked it up in months.

I don't dislike the DLC or the game, I just kind of feel like I'm not getting into the world or my character as much as I'd like.
>>
>>339154304
It's pretty short. That game is filled with little bullshit sequences.

Holy fuck, so much this. Kotor 2 was one of my favorite childhood games but I can't stand the beginning
>>
>>339157715
MGS1's "that part" is the entire REX fight, and maybe dealing with the landmines during the Tank fight if you don't know the mechanics. The backtracking took like 2 minutes tops,

MGS5 doesn't really have a "that part" though, other than the game being an extremely long grind to nowhere.

Transformers Fall of Cybertron
XCOM Enemy Unknown
Fallout 4
Killzone Shadow Fall
Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain

For PS:T it's any area past Ravel, although it goes back to being good in the end again.

For Bloodlines it's the sewers. That shit is boring as dicks.

For Dark Souls it's the Sewers/Blight Town. Inb4 git gud, it's just boring and laggy (BT). Izaltih kinda blows, but I'm a sucker for "hellish" levels so it's cool with me.

For Fallout 3 it was halfway through the game where it hit me that its gameplay was absolute fucking garbage.

For NWN it was the part where you had to operate from that camp in the forest and search for the cult.
>>
>>339157715
Escorting Eva used to be 'that part' for me, but then I learned that you can literally walk through the entire thing without her.
>>
>>339159163
>Depths/Blighttown
Depths is pretty easy, and both it and the first half of Blighttown are easily skipped with the Master Key

GTA SA and the flying school.
I hate that part so much. It just ruined the game for me.

My games collection is because I'm poor.

I have an old second-hand XBox 360 and get games second-hand off Amazon. There are amazing games going for next to nothing on there now. Some are literally a penny (plus p&p).

does anyone ever ask 'why' this happens?

it may not be you. it might be them.

them being the developers.

video games are generally good for one thing ... gameplay.

graphics, whatever, pick up a game from the 1980s and you'll understand why

story ... this may be why you just can't stay interested.

as good as some devs are at making games ... they're just not good at story-crafting.

and it's not totally their fault either ... look at how many shitty books, movies, and tv shows are out there.

story-telling takes far more skill.

coding games is like learning a language. from there, you apply it so that you're speaking the language, down the line to working with engines to crafting the game down to the hd skins and everything else.

but they always seem (the pubs not the devs) to skimp on story-telling.

it's a different language, one that isn't the most important part of a game ... but it's also part of the modern trinity of gameplay, story-telling, and graphics (in that order of hierarchy).

anyway tl;dr - you may not be an autistic spergdemon who can't into anything ... you may just be a normie this whole time, because game stories are pretty fucking weak on average.
>>
I hate night levels for any game. I also hate sewers, dungeons, and anywhere dark. It's just so cliche that it ruins the mood for me.
>>
>>339149223
For new Vegas I just remember all of the companions.
I dislike all of them.
I have beaten the game several times but all of the companions are boring.
Veronica is just Felecia Day. The night kin granny is boring.
I had fun killing Caesar with Boone, but doing that again doesn't sound like much fun.

Hey it's still miles ahead of fallout 4
>>
>>339163981
Hancock's pretty fun. Bring him to the BoS and watch him sass the soldiers with diplomatic immunity (they hint at the fact that if you weren't there, they'd murder him).
