Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. "Theme" has a far more mature aspect to it than 'vulgar content'. This is what kids don't understand. Blood and gore != maturity.
OoT and MM have far more subtle approaches to the darker themes, and as such manage to intrigue a mind far more than any story point in AC, CoD, and other AAA games.
