Probably not. Do you read useless shit you stumble across in old archives? At best you skim through it.

The amount of information that grows and complied over generations and generations, it will eventually become a miracle if people stumble across over posts, and if they do, they probably won't read it.

Probably will be the case. The internet is only 25 years old, we live in the wild west times.

Like everything else, it will eventually be controlled and cut down. People will look back thinking how cool the wild west internet must of been, even though it was for the best for it be regulated.

humans will run out of resources and kill each other over the last remaining drops of oil and last remaining grams of precious metals before another millennium passes. archive web servers will lose power and hard drives will be degraded by exposure to the elements. everything humanity has achieved will be be forgotten. if the existence of everything was measured on a clock all of human existence would not even be a nanosecond.

I wonder what will happen when we are wiped out. The universe just existing, with nothing to acknowledge it.

Or maybe life is a very common thing and evolves extremely fast, in the time frame of the universe. Just to our perception, it seems like chance since our lifeframe is all we see.

>The internet is only 25 years old, we live in the wild west times
This.

P2P won't last, piracy is growing every year, at some point there is gotta be some UN worldwide shit that makes it illegal to not only seed, but leech proprietary content through P2P. Then they will extend that to any other protocol, and the few that persist will fall back to exchanging MP3 songs hidden in steganographied images.

Then there will be this thing where your online behavior affects your credit score or other shit. They already have that in China I think.

Then it will become possible to sue someone over something written over the internet, etc.

I don't see any end to the SFW bubble philosophy, and its been trying to control internet for a few years. In 2005 you had none of that shit.

sure. all data from 50 years ago is already backed up now and data today will be backed up 50 years from now, especially as storage methods become cheaper, more efficient, and reliable. old sensitive data is already stored underground in salt mines.

at this point in time the question is more why not? storage space is so vast today the attitude is to keep everything and worry about it later instead of keep only the essentials and worry about it later, especially things as simple as text communications.

the universe will collapse on itself and another big bang will happen and we start all over again.

life being common is a given but we'll never be aware of it because the universe's fail safe is distance and time. the next closest galaxy is cma dwarf and is 25,000 light years away. even if some civilization were to invent ftl travel (and survive it) they would still have to be essentially immortal and pick the right direction to go looking for something.

There is also the problem of time dilatation that many uneducated ideas about the future and space exploration neglect.

If you don't fly fast enough, you can't go far away. If you fly too fast, the time dilatation makes it impossible to return to your normal life. A guy that flies in a ship near the speed of the light will return a year later to earth and everyone he knew will be dead. That implies having people on Earth managing your mission, having people not yet born that will be hired to welcome you back. If we ever reach that level of technology, our very own nature as 3rd dimensional creatures (rather than 4th, traveling through time as we move through space) will be a limitation.

>>
>>339106062
Well, I think I could actually work with the one from 1350 so I guess 650 years isn't that bad really, but you also have to take into account that that's just one language and it was before the information age. I just doubt it'll change so drastically in just 1000 years to the point of being completely incomprehensible.
>>
>>339106630
> It really isn't a far fetched idea of other civilizations are out there evolving just as fast as us.

it's a given. just think about how absolutely vast the universe is. for the human mind its effectively infinite. the kepler telescope has already found dozens of goldilocks exoplanets and that's just in the minuscule fraction of space we can see into with out meager technology.
