Halo 5 is actually the best comparison right now and I'm really liking what they're doing with content releases too. Maps are free in Halo 5. No need to buy map packs anymore. You can also unlock everything by getting RP (which might be a slightly better system than Overwatch, but since the XP requirements to level up cap at 22 it isn't that big of an issue) or by buying the card packs.

Plus, you can use the same argument for single player games- I've played through Dragon Age: Origins multiple times, easily putting over 200 hours into that because the second and third times I played I used different combinations of spells and class specializations for a new experience.

The game doesn't feel like it was ever worth $40 dollars, the gameplay is underwhelming, very few maps, only 2.5 gamemodes and most heroes are just TF2 characters with a twist, some tf2 characters split to make more than one (the comparison has to be made, you just can't avoid it)
I played the beta for the whole week it was available with my friends for quite a few hours each day, and by the end was really just not impressed by what I saw
