What do you expect of the AI? The AI of dark souls is designed for a narrow purpose, it doesn't need to do shit like run and take cover. It's meant to be pattern based.
I will agree that a lot of areas in DSI were unfinished, I still think it was more fun than I've had in a game in a long time compared to its contemporaries.

And it fails in that purpose frequently. When it is places near cliffs, it drops blithely to its death. When it is placed in narrow corridors (which constitute 50% of the game), it can't round a corner and attempts attacking through walls. When the player executes the most basic of the basic video game manoeuvres that is circle-strafing (which the game FACILITATES with lock-on), it loses its marbles and can't keep up. And this is not even touching on errant glitching, such as getting stuck on geometry, or losing pathfinding when returning from max aggro range.

That's good to hear, and I had fun playing Dark Souls as well, despite its shambolic state, but fun and opinions aside, it just shouldn't qualify for a top 5 spot due to how utterly broken it is. Same reason why I wouldn't qualify DMC4SE, even though I am having fun with it to this day.

I don't disagree, the cutscene thing is just a minor inconvenience. It's probably the most solid TPS I've played as well, played it on both PC and PS3. PS3 port is surprisingly decent given how shit the hardware is but it's so much better on PC. Can almost pass for a current-gen game on max settings.
