This is why Bullet magnetism, lunge and autoaim became a thing. It's also why we had an outrageous plasma pistol track and fubar shotgun and other things. It's why in halo 3 melee was decided by health/shields and not who was first. And CE's netcode was a fucking train wreck, this was the last great thing Gearbox would ever do. In order to get the game running worth a fuck they decoupled the hitbox from the player model. Forcing the user to lead the shot based on ping. A sound indicator notifies the player on a hit, with a little practice it becomes second nature. This also means fights can be incredible, pushing the meritocracy of the ye olden CE days to something akin to a streetfighter tourney.

Aside from that many many balance changes were made in 2. Primarily because Bungie staff insisted on making 2 more party-game oriented like Mario-party. So because of this many weapons and their perks were removed. Plasma Stun was removed, grenade damage and radius was reduced, sniper rifle penetration was removed, needler explosion was reduced, plasma rifle accuracy was reduced, basic weapons damage and TTK were reduced, vehicles were given more defense and power with no achilles or counter aside from heavier power weapons. Map layouts were designed with map control in mind instead of aesthetics and arena gameplay.
