>In 2012, publisher Square Enix cancelled the unannounced project, leaving a three-year black hole on the CVs of hundreds of developers who worked on it. These people are not - officially at least - allowed to say they worked on Legacy of Kain because of strict non-disclosure agreements. But, as is always the way, you can't keep a good vampire story down.

>They wanted a game that was almost insultingly simple in parts so it could be played by people who hadn't really played games before.

It sill hurts. LoK is one of my favorite narratives and it's probably going to stay unresolved forever.
>>
>>339072854
this is most modern games

>shakespearean time-travelling vampires
the only good thing about LoK is the voice acting

Looks like a poor man's version of Shadow of Mordor.

More like Legcucksy of Kain Wifes Sun
>>
You know what? I'd love a Shadow or Mordor styled game in Nosgoth. There's so much potential there.

Kain and Raziel's story ended but there's no reason not to explore the universe further.
>>
>>339072854
The Lords of Shadow "castlevania" games are a perfect example of that kind of dev mindset. Stopped playing as soon as I realized that the camera wasn't ever going to stop panning over to every objective along with a shiny trail of light leading right to it.
>>
FUCK YOU

VAMPIRE!

In all honesty this is a better reboot than most I've seen. But That writing is so awful, I understood exactly why this was left in the ditch.
>>
>>339073230
the gameplays unpolished shallow action-adventure and the story's a convoluted mess
>>
So LoK is still dead?

VAE VICTIS
>>
lok died with tony jay. let the series rest in peace and enjoy all the games we already have that are already good.

this is dumber than when ubisoft made the new splinter cell with a new VA and covered it up by fisher aging in reverse by 20 years.
>>
>>339073131
I believe they took the concept from this and Sleeping dogs.
>>
>>339072457

Good, everything about this game that was shown was trash. The game-play to the dialogue. Nosgoth was bad enough, let this series stay dead and buried.

>LoK being dead in this day and age

Seriously a blessing.
>>
>>339073689
Nosgoth still existed, even if it's shut down as of a few days ago.
>>

Who cares about MMOs though?

>>339073789

Ouch.

But yeah that kind of proves my point. As much as I love LoK there isn't a single dev I could come close to trusting to do it right.
>>
>>339073789
Nosgoth was shit anyway
>>
>And then there were wild sales expectations. At the time, Square Enix was a publisher that had what most consider to be unreasonable sales targets for its games. In 2012 - the year Legacy of Kain was canned - the Tomb Raider reboot came out. It sold 3.4m copies in four weeks, which was not enough to hit the game's sales target. Hitman Absolution sold 3.6m units and failed to hit sales targets. Sleeping Dogs sold 1.75m and also disappointed.

And now Squeenix consider JC3 selling a crappy 500k units a "major success". What a fucking joke.
>>
actually I prefer the franchise to be dead than to be dumbed down to some bamham for retards

Why the hell is Eurogamer only making an article about this now? We've known about Dead Sun for well over a year at this point.

>Fuck you, Vampire
Such a worthy successor to Shakespearean dialogue delivered by actors of the highest caliber like Tony Jay and Michael Bell.
>>
>>339074298
They probably adjusted budgets accordingly

except it didnt

raziel was supposed to leave the soul reaver again so kain could finally sacrifice himself after killing the old god thingy
>>
>>339074324
fucking this.

never understood why people still want developers to make sequels to generally beloved franchises from years ago.

duke nukem is shit
theif is shit
deus ex is shit
doom is shit
>>
>>339072879
The story (and almost everything else) fell apart with SR2. I think Defiance left things open in a respectable way I think anyway, even if there's still technically room for a sequel.

The original Blood Omen is the best LoK game by a mile. SR1 was pretty decent, though.

>>339074884
>Shakespearean dialogue
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's Shakespearean in the same way a child wearing a business suit looks like an adult.
>>
>all this money wasted when all they had to was take the old games and just freshen then up with modern os support, scaleable ui, native bone/ps4/360 controller support, steam cheetos, minor bug fixing, and if possible maybe remaster the cut scene movies and thrown in a soundtrack

video game companies are such shit today.

I really enjoyed Nosgoth

reminded me of L4D2 versus when playing with friends
>>
>>339076786
Shattered Memories wasn't bad, but it could have and should have been better than it was. It's not a survival horror game so much as a haunted house simulator, but I liked that about it.
>>
>>339072457

This pisses me off to this day. They still made shite like Thief and all the other square enix crap they produce in Japan.

Good riddance.

Let´s not leave behind reality, shakespeare was no "shakespeare" either. He was simplistic and gauche at times, and his dialogue is seething with smugness at his "genius" at times.
He is basically the citizen kane of the late renaissance, supremely cited by people who are not really aware what exactly he was famous for.

Something tells me you're not very well-read.
>>
>>339072457
didn't this get leaked ages ago?

I remember a thread we had about how shit and edgy it looked (I remember he was fighting a chick with her tits hanging out for no reason)

in fact I decided to answer my own question: yes, here is the footage that was leaked

jesus eurogamer are slow, this video is a year old
>>
>people still having their tounges up Shakespeare's ass
Fuck's sake, grow a goddamned spine!
>>
>>339078417
People have their tongues up his ass because they admire his work. There are people that posture for the sake of signalling, sure, but that goes for nearly everything.
>>
>>339078296
I was thinking the exact same thing, I'd almost assumed I was having deja vu.
