Monster AI is not the same thing every time.
My Shaggy was ultra-aggressive and punished me plenty if I tried to take the time to heal or sharpen my weapons. I had to seriously contemplate what was a good time to get in there and attack, and when to hang back so I wouldn't erase my sharpness attacking a bad spot.
Yeah, you can cheese the fight by staying behind Shaggy, but most players don't know that exploit, and if you claim the fight is too easy because you used an exploit/are too experienced, then you should kindly shut the fuck up and stop downing people who managed to overcome what is, to new players, one hell of an obstacle built towards.
Helps that it's the one fight you HAVE to fight smart and very aggressively. You can't chicken out or play too defensively like every other monster--which is why it seems to die so fast. If you did that to every other monster, then congrats! You just got gud.
The fight is literally the final lesson in gittin gud.

Shaggy is the 2nd best monster to learn how to gauge openings that let you go crazy, learn to not be greedy, and to play smarter than normal. Especially when the fight is pretty forgiving if you used that ultra defense armor set.

Projectile weapons shouldn't be like melee weapons where they wait for an opening to "get in" you should be peppering shots in constantly, racking up sustained damage and status effects. Archers and bowgunners are also the best candidate to set traps because they'll likely have more awareness of the arena than the close-range players who are too busy dodging and looking for openings.

Imagine if you could just sit behind Rajang and almost never get hit. There was a Shagaru Magala in the past, and the Wyverian culture always thought it was the exact same one. The one you fight was proof they weren't the same one.

What made them so good in that one? I've used bow a lot in 4U but I use the new control scheme and the camera setting where the aim does not swing behind me. That way I can play it like a TPS with the right stick, no stopping to aim. Just center the part I want to hit across the middle of my screen, face the direction, and fire with perfect accuracy. Pretty sure P3rd doesn't have that set up so I was thinking about using a different weapon when I play it.

The one time I used a bow, I hated how the crosshair followed the character. Having played third person shooters, I expect the character to strafe left or right while I aim my bow. I have to stand still to aim my shots and by the time I do that the monster is too close for me and I have to backup and repeat. It's annoying.
I put 600 hours into mh4u but stopped playing for a year. My hunting is sloppy and my essential resources are all depleted. Should I bother getting back into this game or should I just wait for Generations?

I had a super optimized set in 4U for seregios bow, and it was one of my best sets for dps.

In the Monster Hunter lore they used to have great technology and experimented with all sorts of strange shit. Biotechnology and all, they enhanced some people to be more powerful than normal humans to be able to take on the monsters on their own, those are our hunters' ancestors I guess, there's no explanation for how that continued or was passed down. They harnessed the dragon element with their technology. They also made this giant patchwork abomination made with metal and parts from different elder dragons called the equal dragon weapon. They kept slaughtering the dragons and monsters so much that the monsters all banded together and they had a good old war. Humanity got its shit fucked up and so did the monsters. Now the humans exist in a diminished somewhat tribal state with some remnants of higher technology with their airships and gunlances and all that but nowhere close to as good as they used to be. And that's where we come in as players of Monster Hunter.
