Another Capcom series, Devil May Cry pretty much does this as well, only replace power with weapons, BN still uses the idea in its own way, so I think that can stand on its own.

I know that plenty of shows can get away with having an evil main character, but I think Eddy's grating voice and lack of good or interesting qualities made every episode hard to watch. Edd was complete buzzkill and had no characterization beyond being a nag. I didn't like the interplay between the 3 Eds, and generally found them to not be enjoyable at all to watch.
I did like Plank and Rolf though. The episode with Ed getting a pebble in his shoe was a standout.
