I get what you mean. I watched X-Play in Junior High (inb4 underage, I'm 22), and it really was the highlight of getting home from school some days. Just watching G4 and snacking until I could get picked up from my grandparents' where the bus dropped me and play vidya.
I played videogames a lot before I ever watched G4, but I didn't have home internet, so while I understood that studios of devs made games and there were publishers and shit, I never really knew or cared about the wider world of "the industry", and all my info about upcoming releases was from magazines. G4 showed me actual footage of gaymen, Cheat had all these cool secrets and shit, X-Play was pretty fucking funny from what I remember, and the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube gen was pretty fucking cool, it was just a channel of endless hype.
But to hear that Sessler just dismisses all that, part of the reason I got as into videogames as I did, it's just shitty. I know that every actor on screen is a persona to some degree, but to see him turn into a coke inhaling, hipster SJW son of a bitch who prefers what he is now to what he was then is just godawful.
