I put $100 towards this shit. I really really want it to succeed. I was hoping with how successful the Kickstarter was that even if this project does end up shitting itself hopefully it'll make devs realize people want this formula of game and it will spawn more Castlevania style games. If it turns out bad or good hopefully it still causes one of my favorite styles of game to bear fruit.

I didn't, my rude awakening was donating to That Which Sleeps, a really cool idea for a game proposed by a literally who. It was supposed to be a TBS god game where you play as an ancient evil trying to awaken in the face of pesky meddling heroes trying to stop you, the goal was to keep all the different nations weak and divided so that when they finally figure out what's going on and try to stop you its far too late.
And surprise, its more than a year after it was supposed to come out and its nowhere near launch, the guy programming it is clearly not up to the task. There had been frequent updates with deadlines that were always missed, but then around October of last year the devs just completely went dark and cut contact with the forums.

Don't get me wrong, I like SoTN a lot but that game had a bunch of issues, it is not the flawless masterpiece people like to make it ou to be. The RPG elements were very broken, bosses are really easy (everything is too easy, actually), and the game is way longer than it needs to be: the inverted castle sounds really awesome on paper but actually exploring the same shit again upside down gets tedious as hell.
Other metroidvanias did some things better (and some things worse, too). Overall, my favorites to replay are actually Aria of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia.
