As far as carter and kat, I think those are valid nitpicks, I suppose, but I don't think it's a big deal. it would have been super cool if they kept the asymmetry for carter's thing but it's easy to understand why they didn't and it looks good in the end anyways.
With kat's, i'm not suprised at all they didn't. I actually mess with ripped halo models all the time and the way reach's armor system works period was reworked just to support the entire arm model being switched out for the robo arm. halo 3, 4, and I would assume 5 simply don't support having the base spartan undersuit geomtry being replaced, only the armor on top of it being switched out, whereas in reach the spartan arms themselves were their own set of geometry seperate from the undersuit.

The maps were shit but it had a huge amount of overall content, and it had a very robust gametype editor and forge even compared to 3 and 4.
5 even has more custom potential then reach (pic related was done in forge, for example), actually, but the playerbase is much smaller.

Yeah, you're right, the inability to play any of the MP at all unless you've got a paid XBL sub and are playing online, by yourself, doesn't affect the MP experience. Nope, removing half the MP functionality doesn't affect the MP experience at all.
Sprint still being there, the stupid, necessary clambering animations, even lower jump height, stupid ground-pound and thruster abilities, general map layout being balanced around sprint and ADS all turned me off. It just doesn't play like Halo. The lack of offline MP functionality was a fucking slap in the face to Halo fans and was why I ultimately decided to skip both the game and console itself.

Even if you argue "well, 4 didn't have an SMG, so that's okay and it served that role", you'd be wrong because 4 lacked descope which meant that the BR and other medium to long range weapons dominated far more ranges then they should have that should have been even ground for both an auto and a percvison weapon user.
5 does closest to perfect. AR is on even ground with the BR and DMR, they just each peak at close, medium, and long range respecivily, but all aere still at least viable at the next range over. There's a seperate SMG that anhilates shit at close range and will at least be somewhat useful but sup par in close/medium.

They did in the beta, autos had headshot damage in the beta.

I played every Halo game except for Wars for at least a hundred hours each. Halo 3 is just a worse version of Halo 2, which was already a cheap knockoff of the original Halo.
Custom content was cool at the time, but I can only take playing the same 10-round Zombies gametypes for so long, and the forge mode was quickly replaced by Reach's in terms of functionality.
