That's exactly what happened because the entire war was a European conflict. Do remember, WW2 started in 1939, and ended in 1945. Japan attacked us in 1941 (that's not even halfway through the war), and the American people had a huge war erection. America played a pivotal role in the war effort. Normandy, Operation Market Garden; and we fucked over the Japanese. The American war front was hardly focused against the Germans, ours was the Pacific theatre. But, American troops played their own role in that War. I'm not saying the other Allies didn't do jack shit, because they did.
TL;DR America helped fuck up the Germans, pave the way for France, and kilt the Japs.

My grandad was an officer in World War II and fought in arguably the most brutal yet forgotten theatre of the war (South East Asia).
He was a white officer in an African regiment in the British Army. He said they were some of the best and toughest soldiers he had ever seen and had nothing but respect for them, especially since the unit he was in command of were often given the most dangerous tasks.

Despite all the flag waving history you're citing America was financially involved in WW2 long before they entered combat. Lend-lease and huge business deals with both Nazi Germany during the lead up and the Soviet Union during the war. It can be argued that if it wasn't for American finance and engineering the Russians may have lost to the Germans, or the war would have been dragged out for more years.
It's also a big reason why America was in such a powerful position after the war. They held all the IOU's on the loans to Europe and then held more European debt after for rebuilding western Europe.

We don't know which factions are in the game yet but we do know the fronts its focusing on, The Italian Alps, the Arabian Deserts and the Western Front. They're probably expand with DLC but that's what launch looks like.

This Harlem Hellfighters DLC giving them the latest US equipment should already show you they don't give a shit about accuracy.
The US never supplied the Harlem Hellfighters with guns, the French had to do that. Even when they met up later with US forces and got proper US helmets, do you really think the US would be giving them 1911's? At the BEST they would get tossed a M1917 revolver, but the reality is more likely that they would be using French weapons.
