Playing it on nightmare. 0 HUD, no glory glow, no reticle. All fun. Seriously. It still plays well even with everything turned off, the screen gives off an amber tint when low on health, all the mechanics have sound ques. If you are wondering your about ammo count the weapon wheel will tell you. They wouldn't give you the options to disable the whole his if it didn't work.

It feels like im getting more bang for my buck with these toggle options. Feels like added challenge.

I just finished today and I must say I liked it a lot.
Even though the story was a mere excuse to kill everything, I liked it.
Also, those Wraiths who you must deactivate, the ruined castles part from Argent D'Nur and the holographic knights, old allies of Doomguy reminds me a lot to Quake 1.
I hope that they improve the Snapmap tho

Doom succeeds by not trying to be everything else on the market. It gives the player mobility, speed, and firepower when other games are ripping the controls away to show another cinematic explosion or QTE.

I don't mean to diminish the game's flaws. It does have a few, and a lot of what people mention on here are entirely valid; the multiplayer does suck, Snapmap is awesome for consoles but extremely limiting, a complete lack of mod tools is baffling, but I feel like that's all missing the forest through the trees.
The game is great. It's the first game of its kind, that's actually well executed and polished, in about two decades, and we really need to support this kind of thing. I, personally, would LOVE to see a return of the DOOM style single player

You're misunderstanding anon. The game only lets you save to take a break. You 'still' only get a single life. Recommend running through whatever level you're about to do a few times before you tackle it on U-N, as nothing changes besides the one life rule. Make sure you highlight what arenas or fights gave you the most difficulty, practice them, and make sure you get fucking good. It's not any more difficult, but the game is good at cheap shotting you sometimes.

Yea op when I first got the game it still retained the same but enhanced nostalgic feel to it's past counter parts of the Doom series.

The main character does not say much but gives the vibe of a stone cold killer when drilling through the game with a huge selection of weapons and death finishers.

I give it a 9/10.

it is VERY useful. Towards the end of the game, at least on UV, glory kills were often just a good way to get killed. With that rune upgraded you just plow through shit. I combined it with the bonus armor and speed boost ones.

This is the first FPS game I've enjoyed in a long time.

I played Wolfenstein TNO and Deus Ex HR but didn't enjoy those. I wasn't a big fan of Bioshock Infinite.

Halo just isn't fun.

Got it for thirty sheckels. Not worth 60, but the game is fun.

Haven't messed around with MP much besides in beta, but Snapmap serves it's purpose as a mediator between .wads and Halo 3 custom games. Not great unless with friends, sure, but it works to keep console players engaged with the community enough to possibly give us a better sequel with full .wad customization (which I'll admit is a long stretch still). Halo 3 C.G.s were fun when drunk either way with all the random bullshit you could do.

SP, on the other hand, is a solid 7.5 or 8.5, dependent on whether you're viewing broad game history or recent. It's just fun and satisfying to play (on Nightmare at the least.)

The weapons feel unique, but still similar enough that it's almost just like fresh paint. People saying they should increase demon amounts are half right. Contextually, the amount of demons is fine, but twice as many could be a fun challenge mode. There's quite a similar amount of enemies on hardest difficulty compared to classic. I felt like I had to actually sit down and play the game, which took me a few days to actually get in the groove to do, so I played a level a day until then. Could be much better, but the game is pretty decent/good as is, so take it as you will. Love classic and this gives me hope for modern FPSes if they emulate this style.

Glory Kills have invincibility frames, at least as far as I can tell.

I would use the extended glory kill range rune to pull myself into the middle of groups to shred them with an SSG and never had any real problems. Also on UV.

That doesn't work on Nightmare though, enemy damage is too high to safely pull something like that.

Doom on nightmare is the dark souls of fps

Every time you die, it's a result of you making an actual mistake that could have been easily avoided by thinking faster and planning better, dying because you didn't pull out the right weapon at the right time to deal with the right enemies in the right order while maintaining spacial awareness so you can keep up your momentum avoiding damage. If you died because a hell knight kicked an explosive barrel into your face, you should have shot the barrel a second earlier to damage the hell knight. If you were standing next to the barrel, you should have moved elsewhere earlier. 100% planning and skill and reactions and decision making, no bullshit.

1. More Glory Kill variations. Make it so that different approach angles to weakened opponents yields in different Glory Kills. Also make it so that different locations lead to different kills as well. So if I'm near a wall, the Glory Kill will involve me smashing the demon's head against a wall. Sort of like in Yakuza with the Heat Actions.

2. More weapon types. I'm fine with the nostalgia weapons, but there should be brand-new weapons. Maybe a crossbow machine gun?

Its not necessarily a bad thing, the arena gameplay got pretty stale at the end but it was better than the abortion that was Doom 3

This is already in the game. On smaller enemies the glory kill from the front is the suckerpunch followed up with a haymaker. From the side usually results in flipping the target and slamming them on the ground, from behind you'll normally snap the neck or tear their jaw right off. From above you slam them to the ground and stomp their head in. If you're close enough to a wall you may boot them in to it and then plant your foot through their head.

If you're getting shot, move. That sounds dumb at first, but on Nightmare, if you aren't making a leap to a new area at least every few seconds, you're probably getting wrecked. Following the movement, it's all about learning how to lead shots so when you're mid-movement to a second at most post-landing, you can hit a target. Once you have that down, you can play Nightmare, let alone HMP.

There was more story than Doom 1 and 2 combined, and probably equal if not more than 3. The story was a set-up for both the levels and SQL bait, but it works. You don't see many hell stories where hell legitimately fucking rips into 'x' planet often. The scenery was pretty dynamic, especially the complex itself from decent, to destroyed, to a snow wasteland. Characters were meh to decent, but there was like all of four, including you. Looks like an assblast attempt to put down a nu-classic FPS.

it has a very different feel from the SP, it was made by different people.

it just feels fundamentally bad. I played it a good bit in the alpha/beta on consoles and hated it. Got to level 20 on PC and while it has its moments its mostly just annoying and lame. A lot of camping power weapons and instakill no skill bullshit. Compared to something like UT4 or overwatch it's amateur hour. Hell I'd even prefer Destiny.

They outsourced the MP to the same team that did the MP for Halo 5 & CoD Ghosts and it shows.

It's just forgettable and I think we were expecting something more along the lines of OG Doom deathmatch or Quake 3 Arena.

Demon runes are cool the first couple times you use them but they break up the flow of the game and leave the demon's team bored.

Love it, weapons feel amazing, combat feels amazing, game is unforgiving about mistakes and rewards smart play. The most satisfying moment was either chasing down an imp with the chainsaw and having it glance back just before I cut it in half or unloading all six sticky missiles on a hell knight and seeing it stumble and claw at them before blowing up. I've only just gotten to hell but the revenants are my favourite enemies so far.

I finished Ultra-Violence and found it pretty easy so I went up one difficulty level and I can't even finish the first fight.
