We had a lot of Xmen, but one Spidey character. I would want 3-4 of the big characters of each series.
3 Xmen, 3 Spideys(Spidey, Venom, Carnage), 3 Avengers, 3 Defenders, 3 Cosmic characters (RR, Nova and Star Lord) 4 Misc. characters, 3 big villains, 1 super obscure character.

I always wonder why capcom affected the buttons starting in MvC2. In MvC2, the only way to do medium attacks it to double press low attacks, which is weird and fucks people like blackheart if you ask me.
I think I can see why though. I think because they have to accommodate with the default number of buttons in their arcade games (maximum of 6, minus the start button) and since team consists of 3, they have to replace some of the buttons for tag teams.
In MvC3, the buttons was just straight up weird and unexpected. I thought the controls would return to the old format since there would be more buttons on the controllers and all, but nope. The controls feels simplified if you ask me.

The X series was far faster paced, and seeing Mega Man use punches and kicks that, save Mega Upper, he never previously used in MvC/2 was weird. Neither has been relevant in over a decade, even longer for Carnage. inb4 Carnage-Man, he died at the end of it and Axis was one of the stupidest events in Marvel history. Eddie Brock isn't even around in the comics.
Say what you will about MvC3, but it had by far the best Marvel roster because it actually moved beyond that 90s period, aka X-men & Venom are popular. I'm honestly surprised Punisher wasn't in MvC2, but then again Cable basically took his role.

His weapons are better suited to a fighting game. Mega Man felt almost out of place in MvC/2, his moves just don't mesh well. None of the classic series characters really do. Any other Mega Man would work better. I understand you want classic representation; Mega Man fit perfectly into a game like Smash, but doesn't handle the transition to other fighting games>other fighting gamevery well. Roll worked fine in TvC, however, but she never really fought in the series before unless she was a clone of Mega Man, so liberties could be taken.

Disney recently announced the cancellation of their Disney Infinity toy line alongside production of content for the video game half it as well. Soon after announcing this, Disney stated that while they wouldn't be developing games for right now, they would still be interested in licensing deals. Since licensing allows MvC to exist, people took this as a potential sign that maybe Disney could revive MvC by licensing a new game.
