Played the beta and loved it which was a surprise.
It seems like this will be the next "BIG" shooter to hit mainstream, possibly pushing out titles like Halo and COD. In some ways i'm relieved because "360 noscope 420 blaze it" culture has permeated the industry for far too long. Perks are getting old and tiredsome, and I think Overwatch will hail a new era of arena shooters with unique character abilities.
You already see this in COD and Rainbow Six, and with MOBAS leading the competitive arenas of tournaments... I think Blizzard has tapped into a whole new gaming market to expand upon.
Soldier 76 looks like the most fun champ to play.
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to play the beta (seriously who schedules open betas during final weeks?), but I'm hoping to get my hands on the game on Tuesday.

The short was 'okay' but I'm disappointed because 76 is my favorite character, and the short wasn't focused on him, but some little girl I don't care for.
His action was fucking great though, diving around blowing up shit, pounding gangster heads into the ground with a pinata. I was just hoping for some more backstory on 76,I guess, dragons short ended up being my favorite

Somebody in a thread last week was claiming to be a Blizz employee. Somebody had asked if there are plans for a movie, and they said it's nothing they're working on or anything, but they're gauging general interest and waiting it out to see how well everything goes.
I think it's safe to say if the response is positive enough, they'll get a movie project rolling. Which sounds plausible considering at the Blizzcon they revealed it at, they fully acknowledged how movie-esque it felt. Also, I remember reading how they were thinking of the possibility of a show or something. But maybe they just settled on these shorts.
