it's a new card, you're acting like it's a no brainer to not be able to do 4k 60fps.

the GTX 1080 is weird, it does well above 60fps on 1440p but it's well under 60fps for 4k. I'm waiting for the TI edition. Even then I'm probably going to wait for whatever comes out in 2018.

the updated 1440p/144hz monitors are fine. yes you're gambling with the possibility of terrible black light bleed but you can returns panels if they're really bad.
if you bought the xb270hu though you got completely memed, not only do you get AHVA quality panels but it only covers 80% of the sRGB gamut which is just criminal for an IPS (like) monitor.
the pg279q and xb271hu are fine.

Nvidia meme card owner here..

Go AMD for Q4 2016 and onwards for the foreseeable future, Nvidias architecture cannot do Asynchronous Compute, GDDR5x is no match for HBM2 and the real kicker is that AMD hardware is in the consoles so developers WILL be coding with AMD in mind, if they have any business sense. Nvidias shekels are nothing compared to MS/Sony shekels so expect very few developers to adopt Nvidia gameworks which will mean shit performance for Nvidia cards in future DX12/Vulkan titles.

AMDs next cards will small, cool and very power efficient thanks to 16nm finFET and while they will be weaker in terms of raw graphical processing compared to Nvidias option, they will be much cheaper and thanks to next gen GFX APIs you can buy a second GPU and it will be 100% utilised, unlike SLI/Xfire seen today.

AMDs masterplan has almost come to fruition and i wouldn't be suprised if they kick Nvidia out of the gaming market intirely by 2019, and considering nvidia is try to branch out into the render card and more importantly, driverless car market, nvidia is likely looking for an exit strategy to the gaming hardware market.

Well on my radeon 290, it appears to run 22-28 FPS.

I had no idea I got some good frames but DEAR GOD FUCK 30 FPS.

I just can't deal with this shit, I'm gonna get 2 watercooled 1080's or 1080 ti's when they come out, depends when they do though.

Custom water cooled my 290, I get max 75 degrees so I'm gonna smash out the overclocking later.
>>
>>338485881
Well you can buy now but you will be getting shafted hard on the price. The 1080 should be £200 cheaper.

Im not upgrading till a year or two since I have a 980 only at 1080p, but if I wanted to upgrade now I would wait until at least september for polaris/vega/1080ti/titan etc which will drop the price of the 1080/1070 hard.

You get IPS mostly for the good colors and black levels. OLED would be good if it was cheap and didn't have burn in issues.

~6-10 frames a second is not exactly "laughs at" anon, especially when the 1080 isn't even reaching 60fps

Unless the 1070 actually has issues like the 970, I don't care if it's been gimped as long as it's powerful enough. Seems like a bargain compared to how much you'd get out of a 980 or a Titan, and it's high time I upgraded anyway.

if I'm correct about how processing works then there's probably one or two iterations left before graphics cards top out their maximum power/size
I can't see how they make a card that does much better than the 1080 without increasing its size.
4k 60 fps will most likely not happen in processing in a modern 3d game without a breakthrough the likes of the steam engine or electricity
so I'd say the 1080 is pretty safe if it has not built-in limiters

ips structure prevents any fast changing, no matter how "developed" the tech becomes, it's always going to be a problem, and yes there will still be ips glow and washed out blacks. Show me a monitor that does not have any of the typical ips characteristics.

That's why http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_rog_swift_pg348q.htm shows on a modern panel right?

Also it's VA panels that are more common in the 144hz non-tn panels. Don't confuse the two, va and ips are different developed tech.
