The closest I can think of is the Shadow Warrior reboot from 2013. There's secret areas in the game that are modeled with assets (don't know if they're the original assets, or re-created) from the original titles. Those spots are easily some of my favorite easter eggs.

its just real game companies didnt focus on making fluffy shooters like fear and doom 3 with bloom textures which look great on consoles.
they have to make middle of the day in a warzone shooters and to make that look realistic looked goofy back in the day, this is why you got games like crysis doom3 fear and dead rising 2 for a lesser extent

I probably should have turned down the settings, but I initially played at 7-9 fps
I got a newer computer later on and was able to get it up to 12-13 fps, the difference was like night and day
Finally I managed to make my own gaming pc and was able to play with max settings and constant 60 fps, I thought I was going to die

can anybody explain this to me? Why is resolution so sacred? People would voluntarily disable all lighting, cripple drawing distance and remove shadows, before dropping resolution? Do you pay attention to individual pixels while playing?
For me the pic as a whole matters. If I can get it slightly more pixelated, while retaining all the visual features, that strikes me as the far better compromise

why? I honestly don't get it. What's the benefit? You can see a flat brickwall perfectly crisp, I see a bump mapped torch-lit brickwall with slightly lower resolution. Hell, I could probably identify the brickwall as such, because of its surface. Why should I care that the mortar on it is 3 pixels thick, instead of 4? What do I gain from crispness that makes up for the severe loss in definition?
