Here's my fear: On a visual and play level, even end-game FFXIII was pretty sweet. Once you got access to all the tools and were able to make relevant decisions, things like having to set up special tactics for certain enemies, abusing passive effects to survive max-damage attacks and switching abilities on the fly was actually fun as fuck.
The problem was that it was entirely post-game content, needing almost 40-50 hours of boring, mindless attack-spamming gameplay to get to.
If you w ant to hate this game, realize that a lot of the weapons and abilities are probably only going to show up in the last quarter of the game, and the rest of the time you're going to be using a few shitty basic weapons and tiny spells that might hit one little target at best until the game decides that you're 'experienced' enough to actually play with the fun toys.

We've seen a girl in the car with the guys, Cor also joins the party at multiple points, and they confirmed female does join the party and that the guys act all different around her than when it's just them. I also think Ardyn may actually help out the party and switch sides too.

Eh, about a third of the settings look "Final Fantasy" and the rest look like something out of some random AAA game. The ones that are good are fairly pretty but I'd honestly never guess the rest were from a FF game if you didn't come out and tell me.
Most of them are just bland, boring, uninspired, or just far too basic/realistic to get my fantasy senses tingling.

I doubt the goddess is Eos or any gods from real world mythology, the world being called Eos is just that, the worlds name. The main goddess in XV is still a goddess of death just not named Etro anymore.
There was never a gate to the underworld either, it was a gate to the realm of the dead which is the equivalent of heaven. We already know Noctis and Luna have their near death experience as children which grants them powers from the death goddess.

"Fans" of Final Fantasy have likely on played 7, possibly 10 as well.
If you could ask the people in that picture whether they've played the original, 3, 5, or 12, they'd likely tell you it doesn't matter because 7 is the best and the other games don't matter etc.
Most self proclaimed FF fans probably haven't even played half the mainline games, but try and talk about what's "Final Fantasy" and what isn't, even though FF1 is nothing like FF8 or 10, showing that there can be drastic differences between iterations.
Thankfully I post on /v/ where everyone in this thread has played at least 12 of the mainline games.

That's why I said about a third of it looked good. The jungles/grassland/mountains looked pretty basic and didn't really have any flair to them, the crystal formations or whatever they are looked really out of place and didn't mesh with the surrounding environment at all. The modern city settings really turn me off and the magitech style settings looked pretty good.
Personally it feels like they focused too much on graphics and forgot that you need to support it with artstyle.

Nothing can ruin it for me at this point, I finally get a Final Fantasy game where I can do Dragoon jumps and do radical spear combos in real time against enemies that move around and attack me with cool animations, even if the story ends up being retarded, I like the characters and the combat is serviceable enough for me ( though I think the dodge roll could use some more I-frames)
Although if the spears end up being the shittiest weapon class in the game, it wouldn't ruin it for me, but it would certainly put a damper on the experience.

You've played the demos, seen the footage, heard the music, and gotten a taste of the OST. Only thing that could kill it is an MGSV situation where people just don't think the story is very good. I mean Nomura has done some amazing stuff in his career but he's also gone full retard at times, saying the game has X from Y doesn't really mean much when you can look at it with your own two eyes and see how it's turned out. I'm not seeing it, if you took half of those settings and removed the FF name from them you'd literally never guess they were part of a FF game or a JRPG in general. What looks good does look good but some of it seems completely uninspired and not befitting of a FF game.
I'm not sure why your go to argument would be that I haven't played FF games before, to this point I've played every single one minus the 13 trilogy.
