It's time to admit that the controls for this game are stellar, and really help evolve the series to be something else entirely.
>It is perfectly possible to aim at angles you would never be able to reach with more traditional controls, which gives the game an insane amount of depth
>The cinematic angles that occur when you lock onto to a specific target allow for some unusual enemy combat patterns, such as Aquarosa's force field or the Carrier's spinning laser laser attack. Dodging them takes a bit of practice, and a lot of skill.
>The gamepad view allows for more precise aiming that helps you nail small targets, such as Star Wolf. Dog fighting in this game is insane because of this.
>Small changes, like how even a small hit can make you lose your power ups, really make the game feel much more challenging.
This game is a real treat, and I'm really glad it got made.
It doesn't matter if they're good or not. YOU WILL NOT FORCE ME TO USE CONTROLS.
When I'm paying you money, you bow to my whim and give me whatever control scheme I want. Otherwise, I won't give your game the time of day. How dare you think I have to make sacrifices just so your company can make more profit?
>>338398557
I actually don't mind the controls, however I still agree it was stupid as fuck they didn't include an option to control the ship like a regular star fox game.
There was no reason to take such a big chance by implementing an experimental control scheme into a game people have been waiting nearly 20 years for.
>>338399481
>YOU WILL NOT FORCE ME TO USE CONTROLS.
Sorry they made a video game, not a movie
>>338399497
You can't change the controls to something without the motion? What the fuck were they thinking.
I don't have a WiiU, and keep seeing reasons to not get one.
>>338399627
A video game lets me control it in a way I find comfortable. A movie forces me to watch it in their way, under their conditions.
>>338399841
Arcades must be so triggering to you.
>>338399685
You can make the controls a little better by making them less motion dependant, but you still have to use the gamepad as a giant steering wheel, yeah. It's a bitch to get used to, fun when you do but not everyone will be that patient. Most people just wanted to play Starfox; no bullshit attached. They don't care about Nintendo's fetish for trying to re-invent the wheel.
I love how obvious it is that no one complaining has played the game.
>>338400064
They're archaic in their design. PC gaming is a little more versatile in that way.
>don't like controllers? Use KBM
>don't like KBM, try another controller
>don't like that? Make your own, we won't limit you
I could rip off the front board of a laundy machine and use that as a controller if I wanted. The point is that I should have that freedom.
Worst part is there's no good reason for gyro controls. The game wasn't even made for that.
The controls are ok but do nothing to progress the gameplay of the series or make the gamepad sellable mad ultimately should've been optional, like Splatoon, a much more successful, new IP, not touched by Miyamoto.
Zero has a lot of issues, the controls being the least of them
>>338400293
Well... you don't. Welcome to the real world you whiney little faggot. It makes me much happier to know you haven't, and won't, play the game because I don't want you to be happy in any capacity.because you're a cunt.
>>338400518
>suddenly ad hominem
Not the best argument to defend the gyro controls.
>>338400518
Joke's on you, SFZ only made people more miserable.
>>338398557
>It's time to admit that the controls for this game are stellar,
tippety toppety kek
Actually just tried playing 64 again and it felt so slow and stiff in comparison to zero. Hopefully the next one improves on zero and adds more routes, removes the gyrowing, etc
>>338399497
You can turn off motion controls in the start screen, causing the standard laser to shoot wherever the arwing is facing like in the older games.
I don't like motion controls. Motion controls are shit.
The motion controls aren't the problem, the shitty bosses that force you into lock-on are.
The controls are good. The real issue is the level design and missions.
>Landmaster shit
>Gyrowing Shit
>Everything is All-Range mode
>Chicken Walker stuff shitty
>>338400926
>Actually just tried playing 64 again and it felt so slow and stiff in comparison to zero
Except for the fact that zero is factually slower than 64

Bosman says it best.
>>338398557
If I loved Kid Icarus Uprising, will I love Star Fox Zero?
>>338399481
Pretty sure this is bait but it's getting harder to tell these days
>>338404149
You tell me.
>>338400293
PC players literally worst fan base ruining gaming
>>338400926
This.
You fags go and play StarFox 643D and then play Zero.
Also motion control cry babies need to git gud.
>waaaa I hate having to move a controller
>but I love my waggle in my vr games!!
I love this game, and the controls.
But I think everyone was expecting something way different from 64 or it's not enough like 64. My opinion is that this is an alternate way to play the 64 game. It's the same game, just a new way to play. Sucks some things were not in it like the train, but if you want that level, just play 64. I'm happy with all of this.
>>338404432
Shut the fuck up Gor and go back to miiverse
>>338398557
The controls albeit very complex at times, are manageable. [fixed camera mode particularly]
I just wish mission objectives were a bit more clear cut, I like how you can avoid gyrocopter segments entirely- but you need a guide to know that.
Dialogue gets a little grating too. Mostly due to slippy and Pepper telling you to "USE MOTION CONTROLS!" in the midst of a battle.
>>338404645
Say my name three times and I will.
>>338399685
You can avoid motion controls but the game's difficulty basically makes them a requirement.
There's way more enemies in this game than starfox 64.
>>338398557
You can't convince people who didn't play the game the controls are good.
The polygon Doom review is enough to show that video game reviewers are too busy to get good at a game.
>>338405019
Gor
Gor
Gor
>>338405401
Lmao now I'm here forever.
Reminder that this game failed because you fags just listen to ecelebs.
Reminder that Miyako to was right. We live in a time where people don't actually want any challenge in a video game and just want to to sit and watch.
>>338400926
>Hopefully the next one
I have some bad news, Nintendokid
Been a fan of the starfox since the beginning for (used to play snes sf with my father who is no longer around) loved em all. But this.... these controls are so shitty that I don't even want to play it. Graphics and music are cool but these Fucking controls...I literally get bored as fuck halfway througb a stage. why does nintendo keep pushing this gimmicky shit?
>>338402646
I agree, the linear arwing stages are great. They should have just given us more of that.
>>338399685
I'm the same way, I really want to play wonderful 101 and Xenoblade Chronicles X, among a few other games, but I just keep seeing reasons why I'll have buyer's remorse
I remember going to a FUCKING gamestop a while ago and playing a demo of that claymation kirby game. I thought wow these graphics are fucking amazing, this game looks so cool. But to play the game you're forced to stare at the tiny shitty screen in the tablet the entire time.
what the fuck
>>338398557
Are their any traditional starfox bosses in this game?
You know- where you're chasing a boss and they're flying backwards launching shit at you?
I don't think I've seen a single one. It's all all-range mode.
>>338398557
Does Nintendo have game testers anymore?
Holy shit- they are in dire need of some vidya vets to tell them where they're blatantly fucking up during development.
Parts of this game are good, but other parts make me want to scream "HOLY SHIT NIGGER WHAT ARE YOU DOING" and I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to new ideas in vidya.
>>338405973
>Reminder that this game failed because you fags just listen to ecelebs.
>no the game is gooood my friends if miiverse like it
Holy shit are nintendrones delusion incarnated?
>>338408657
Frick off nerd. It's a solid game and it is satisfying when shooting down baddies.
Go play your over watch or other flavor of the month title that requires zero git guds.
>>338398557
I don't like having to stare at the Wiiu game pad because looking at the TV is useless the majority of the time also the controls are shit

You'll probably finish the game before this thread is over
>>338407432why not pirate them, 5.5.1 has a kernel exploit

>>338398557
Serious question: Is there a way to turn off the motion controls and play the game like a normal Star Fox game? This will affect whether I want to buy the game.
>>338407432
You'll be able to emulate them in a couple of months.
>>338413319
More specifically, can it be played with a Pro Controller?
The controls make the game too easy. The game was clearly not designed around being able to move and shoot in different directions as evidenced by how redundant it made barrel rolls and the fact that yours is the only ship with the ability to move and shoot in different directions completely trivializes all but only a few boss fights. This is most evident in the Star Wolf battles, where they have to put themselves in a vulnerable position to fire, but you just gotta turn your gamepad 90 degrees and shoot at them from the side of the ship.
In older starfox games, you always had to put yourself in the line of fire to shoot down enemies, but in this game, there is nothing stopping you from racking up points by shooting down enemies from a safe location.
>>338413416
No.
