New content.
>>
>>338391268
Everything that they cut out of the main game, just like Dark Souls 1.
>>
if its on the level of dark souls 2 DLC I think we can be excited

hoping some fancy shit like the bone fists or puzzle sword

I'm 100% sure that we'll see Londor.

I'd also love to have a "trick weapon" as a nod to Bloodborne, that'd be pretty neat
>>
POISE
>>
All i hope is that they include some really memorable amd challenging bosses, amd so far From has a good history of dking just that, so I think ill be satisfied by whatever they make.
>>
>>338391709
Dark Souls 2 DLC was complete shit
Hopefully is on Artorias of the Abyss and Old Hunters level
>>
>>338392162

Go suck memezaki's dick

He wishes he had the creativity to make half of the original and fun content that DaS2 DLC had
>>
>>338392162
AotA had good bosses and NPCs, but the world itself felt tiny and the enemies were a let down.

Dark Souls 2 DLCs had good level design but little else.

Old Hunters had great bosses and level design, probably one of the best.
>>
>>338392162
I understand its the norm to hate on DaS2, but the DLC wasn't half bad
>>
>>338391765
>soul of cinders weapon wasnt a trick weapon we could use
wasted potential.
>>
>>338392493
Wait a second. You thought Eleum Loyce was fun? Brume Tower was dope but the other two were pretty meh.
>>
>>338392715
At least Eleum Loyce had that good old looping to itself and opening shortcuts level design that was missing from the DS 2 main game.
>>
>>338392493
Dark Souls 2 DLC was a step up from the main game but it still had all the problems the main game had
>>
>>338392652
Ya that was really disappointing.
>>
>>338391268
Hopefully originality, good bossfights, something new in terms of areas or bossfights, good level design and more armors
Because the main game lacked all of that
>>
>>338392162

DS2 DLC was all cut content from the original game. Watch the original CGI reveal trailer, and you'll see a few scenes from areas in the DLCs.
>>
>>338391709
You mean if it's better than DS3 main game?
Because DS2 really isn't that good and most of the bosses and level designs are pretty bad.
It's better than the main game for the most part, but that doesn't make it great
>>
>>338391765
>I'm 100% sure that we'll see Londor.

And I'm 100% sure Londor is New Londo.
>>
>>338391268
Hopefully Poise

I'm also really fucking hoping that they don't release one tiny DLC this year, and then release the other two next year without including them in the "season pass"
>>
>>338391268

Lore wise, they're gonna jerk us around with no resolutions.

They want to keep open the possibility of sequels down the line. Sure, this is the "last dark souls". But 10 years from now can you really say there won't be a "return of dark souls" with some sequel that promises to tie up all the loose ends?

Serpents might show up. But we ain't killing those niggers.

>>338391502

Dark Souls 1 DLC was just some extra area in the past. It was isolated from the world. They never added any cut content.

BTW, since Dark SOuls 1 is still popular they should make a new Expansion pack for it.
>>
The DLC will be about Ludleth of Courland.
>>
>>338398682
We saw how Anor Londo had changed, so seeing how New Londo is doing would fit the game and potentially be really cool.

Though New Londo was such a pile of ruins in DS 1 that I don't feel that there is really good nostalgic architecture there like there was in Anor Londo.
So it won't be as good.
>>
>>338391268
Maybe enemies won't be able to kill through walls anymore.
>>
>>338399569
But the general idea is that Londor built upon the ruins to be something new and really cool, so we'd be visiting a familiar location with new elements. You know, kind of like what Dark Souls 3 did with almost every area.
>>
>>338399954
git gud
>>
>>338391268
I want to see the serpents nest, I don't have to fight them or anything, I just want to see where they reside. I'm still curious how exactly the world works in DaS, but knowing Miyazaki he avoid explain exactly that.
>>
>>338398926
>Hopefully Poise
>>
>>338397763

I was under the impression that the DS2 DLC was all made by the final team they had when they replaced multiple people mid-development which caused so many design clusterfucks in the main game, which explains why the DLC is so much better than it.
>>
>>338400237

What is known and probably true about the serpents:

The serpents are one hydra creature. Each head is independent. Most wish to destroy the world and bring about the Age of Dark. Frampt befriended Gwyn and sided with the Age of Fire.

They live between Firelink and Kiln of the First Flame in some area. Bells of Awakening wake them when times are dire.

>Still give a shit about poise
>>
>>338392162
The Dark Souls 2 DLCs were the best parts of the game though.

>>338399193
They will return to Dark Souls just like they ended up releasing Bloodborne on PC.

And the Dark Souls 1 DLC was cut content. At least the concept of Oolacile being near Dark Root Garden did.
>>
please god just give me a desert area
>>
>>338400237
I always imagined the serpents living at the absolute bottom of the world. Maybe they live inside Ash Lake, but I always felt like they lived deep down below. It also adds to their whole covetous and jealous nature, that dragons are so powerful and soar high above and the serpents are jealous assholes who only inhabit the bottom of the world. That's how they can slither to all sorts of placers and some out of holes or shadows or whatever.

>>338400729
>The serpents are one hydra creature.
Source on this? It'd be very interesting.
>>
>>338400957
>Source on this? It'd be very interesting.

Speculation. But it seems pretty obvious. We never see their bodies or tails. They all look the same. It's most likely they're actually a Hydra rather than multiple serpents. They were just called serpents because they just thought they were snakes.
>>
>>338400397
>>338400736
Classic Fromdrone stockholm syndrome at work, lads.

>devs remove an important mechanic from the past two games in the series
>lack of said mechanic causes issues in several things from build variety and viability to armor being next to useless
>Fromdrones not only defend it but shit on anyone who wants it back

Miyazaki was a mistake.
>>

>>
>>338401220
Hitting through walls is a feature!
>>
>>338400957
>Maybe they live inside Ash Lake
I always had this suspicion too. It's part why I want to see their home. If the world resides on the trees, what do the trees reside on? What's in the ash lake? Is it another world entirely? Is that where the serpents live? Is there a whole race of them down there? Stuff like that drives me nuts.
>>
>>338399193

DLC 1:
The origin of the profaned capital, the profaned flame, Yhorm's backstory, the fire from the sky, early Irrathyl, and finally Sullyvhan's discovery of the place and his rise to pontiff/curse of the outrighder knights.

DLC 2:
Londor and it's history with Kaathe, and if I had to guess, Lothric and it's history with Frampt. Getrude, Ocelotte, and maybe even Aldia.

I know that the Burg is a good level but why it's always considered one of the best? it's just a mildly short good level and nothing else.

It's not really interesting, there's not a lot of explorable or secret stuff and it's pretty small and linear.

Not even half as good as Sen.

I liked the idea but the execution was just really boring. His standard moves are just basic swipes not too different from the knights outside and then when he summons his stand all it does is copy him a few seconds before he swings. >>
>>338405470
They both seemed to have been repurposed as guard that could be dispatched by Sully at a moments notice. Probably with interest in keeping any Unkindled asshats away from Aldrich which seems to be the centerpiece of his plan. There's Vordt, the first outrider knight, the deacons, the beast on the bridge, the forcefield, the Irithyll knights, Sully himself, the Aldrich Faithfuls and silver knights standing between you and Aldrich, so there's no doubt he's protecting him.

Why Dancer was dispatched after Sully's death is kind of hard to explain though.
>>
>>338405567
I hear a lot of people complaining about the Fire Keeper being boring but all of the level up waifus are boring. Even the Maiden in Black doesn't really do anything until the end nor does she have a large amount of interesting dialogue. The Doll just says a few vague things relating to how Gherman made her based on Maria. Emerald Herald was the one that was most involved but no one seems to really give a shit about her and even that was just showing up at plot important places and taking a plot dump on the player.

And talks about the dream and reveals some of its nature.

And the messengers.

And reveals a connection exists between her and Maria and Gherman and Orphan.

And about moon presence.

And poses philosophical questions that heavily relate to both her and the game.

Oh, and she also was the first npc to react to gestures.

Just because you were intended to fight her after Sully, doesn't mean he didn't send her out before.

The Dancer seems to want to prevent people getting into Castle Lothric. So, she's going to wait there until someone tries before showing herself.

She'd probably been guarding there long before you arrived, but won't engage you until you have the means to enter the castle.

He's just an pushover in 1 because he went crazy. The 4 kings got chunks because Gwyn trusted them. Seath and 4K aren't lords, because they didn't find the souls.

Man I never realized how bad I was at dark souls until I took on the nameless king last night.

I made an effort to slightly upgrade and try each weapon. Even with a balanced build, it's clear some weapons are hot garbage will others are overpowered. It's a shame, I really do like fun builds but you can't do a build if the weapon can only hit for a 1/10th of what a similarly leveled weapon can do. It makes the game unplayable and ultimately you feel like you're wasting your time.

I try to avoid meta weapons, I've been using that Gargoyle Flame Hammer because it's fucking awesome looking. Problem is it's just average, and it sucks when some weapons clearly completely outclass others and you secretly wish the fun weapons could be even half-viable.

Or maybe using tier weapons isn't bad at all and you shouldn't bad mouth someone for having an opinion? Some people want to play with the best they have to choose from. If you get the most enjoyment out of winning then wouldn't you want to do your best to optimize that chance?

Think of it like a game of Magic the Gathering.
>You want to play Legacy.
>You only have a standard deck.
>Everyone else is playing things like belcher, delver, miracles, show and tell, ect (I don't know what is good now. I haven't played legacy in years. these are just of the top of my head).

Do you think you are going to enjoy yourself if your goal is to win? Extreme example I know but still.

I didn't comment because of what you said but how you said it. Calling someone a sheep because they want information on a topic you don't agree with is kind of uncool.

The only time you're going to feel your weapon is shitty is when against meta weapons in a 1v1 duel situation, or you're straight up using it wrong.

You can make any weapon work (with clear exceptions, like broken straight sword) in an invasion just fine.

Some spells like firestorm or spell hail are considered hot garbage but if you use it in a cramped location in an invasion they might be very effective.

Not that I disagree, but there are absolutely a handful of weapons in Dark Souls 3 that are inferior to others for pvp combat (besides the broken srword), but I'm sure overtime they will equal out. The most disabling thing about the PVP is currently the Netcode though and I've played every souls game so don't give me that "It's always been bad" excuse. Yeah it has always been mediocre, but nothing to this extreme where hits do no damage or there is no animation at all for the attack.

Pretty suspect desu. In Dark Souls 1's Ash Lake you meet a hydra type enemy, and another under the forest for some reason. These don't seem like primordial serpents; not looking like something that could have become a dragon either. They're not snake-like enough. (Description of primordial serpent from covetous silver serpent ring).

When Frampt brings the Chosen Undead under Firelink Shrine, his head does not stay straight as if he has a body under him, instead his head is dangling upside down, as if his body is connected to a mass that is located above. The other head the player can access is in the abyss under Firelink Shrine too, at New Londo. So the serpents being one Greek mytho styled giant Hydra isn't at all far fetched.
In the Dark Lord ending of DaS1 the heads are all aligned left and right of the kiln and say the same thing together. Wouldn't be a stretch at all if they're all one being.

Imagine if plot twist was that the fire fades because the primordial serpent is stealing its power. Everything else that's happening in the world has been a manipulation of theirs. So in the end those who resisted the curse were the good guys and right all along, that is; the characters of Dark Souls 2, even the Manus fragments.

I can't ever imagine Fromsoft managing to create a living level, especially one that you can kill and lose access to forever, as the primordial serpents must be massive if they're a hydra.

The DLC will probably just brush the primordial serpents aside. Even considering OP's pic related and all.
I just want a happy ending with either Yuria, Karla, Irina or the Firekeeper.

Why is playing to win cancer? Because you are not having fun? Other people like other things. The player base shouldn't comply to your visions of fun. Even if the game was constantly patched for balance people will always choose the best option because they have the most enjoyment out of winning.

But more importantly I will ask again. How does other peoples choices on how they wish to play a game affect you enough to get upset about it? If you don't like the pvp situation there is an offline option. Or you could try to break the curve by finding a better option. But then again if you did, everyone would start doing that.

Also, I don't save 4chan images on my pc. If I want to use an image I just google it. I don't see how my image affects the point I am making anyhow.

Nice concept, but it just doesn't work.

Think of Frampt at firelink shrine. You get in his mouth, he retracts back in, then takes you vertically down and hangs upside down.

Its way too flexible to be a hydra. He's either an ABSURDLY flexible and long necked hydra, or he slithered down in a snake-like manner. Furthermore, Kaathe is not vertically connected to Frampt either, as far as I can tell. And when all the snakes appear in DaS1 dark end, it doesn't seem very hydra like

pvp in this game sucks mad balls. balancing issues aside, the netframe will always always leave Dark Souls as a shitty platform to have any competitive matches.
rolls are far too generous and the phantom misses just exacerbate the problem
healing with estus is quicker than swinging a sword to stop them, especially with the delayed hits
hosts can summon a clown car of phantoms. if I were the guy in charge I'd allow one summon per invader.

Think of it this way, you have an actual account of how far Firelink is to Anor Londo and the drop to the Abyss. However you and I have no idea how deep the Kiln of the First Flame resides under Firelink Shrine.

What we do know is that we can see roots from the Kiln of the First Flame, when Frampt takes us there. In Dark Souls 1 the Arch Trees are a good metric to see how far deep we are in Lordran. The Great Hollow level for instance and how you can see Ash Lake from the Tomb of the Giants. In Blighttown, the Undead Burg and on its walls you can see the top of the trees.

In a sense we do have an idea of how big (or tall) the Primordial Serpent(s) might be.
Just as tall as an arch yet not tall enough to reach its roots, hence why Frampt has to be upside-down.
As for the primordial serpent's flexibility, the rings might see to that, pic related.

What if the Abyss was a hoax and that we're just landing on the Primordial Serpent's hide covered all in darkness? It makes no sense that there is a patch of blackness in between the kiln which is alight and located at the very bottom, and the overworld where even Izalith and Ash Lake have light.

Some speculation coming up:
The abyss hasn't been relevant at all so much that humanity looking for raw power in Dark Souls 3, seek the "Deep" now.
If right, so Saint Aldrich and Pontiff are actually good guys and are secretly badasses?
>Saint Aldrich eats poor weakened god Gwyndolyn.
>Become serpent-like creature.
>Has his own abyss-like effect but not quite the same, called the "Deep" now.

Primordial serpents eat Lordran gods -> Create abyss?

Also, Primordial Serpent statues in Lothric Castle. Gwynevere is said to have married into ruling family. Is MIA. Mmmmm. Delicious Lordran gods.

I don't think that's true. Remember that the abyss watches have completely removed castles at the first signs of abyss taking hold, and were formed for the soul purpose of fighting abyss. We don't see very much of it, but it's certainly not irrelevant in 3.

I think this is the real issue.

Weapons were always unbalanced in every game. Nothing has changed at all except which weapons are good this time around, and that changes game to game too.

Except now armor is meaningless. There is no poise, and the protection level is not significantly different to warrant investing in armor. Everyone has the same medium roll. Everyone lacks poise. Everyone takes the same damage. Poise and armor level in 1 and 2 could significantly change how someone fights with the same weapons. It made which weapons were 'good' in the meta sense not as clear too.

Now two people sharing a weapon might as well be the same build because the weapon is the only consideration left. Even magic isn't worth a damn anymore beyond buffing, but no buff in the game will change your playstyle either.

Your points are valid. Yes these issues have dumbed down the game. It also limits the amount of options one has in the game.

However none of that has to do with the argument of people choosing to play to win is a bad thing. The game could be 100 percent player based, all with the same sword, same gear, same stats. If people find it fun they will play and they will then in turn maximize that fun by winning.

The game could be as simple as one of those 4 colored sword images that pop on /v/ occasionally. I hope you know what I am talking about I can't seem to find an image. Even if every sword was deal 1 damage, 1 atk speed, 1 def. If a single sword was 1.00002 damage, 1 atk speed, and 1 def. A majority of people would take that, because winning is fun. People will never choose openly to do something harmful to themselves unless they get something out of it. Lets keep using the colored swords for example. You like the green sword even though the yellow sword is mathematically better, that is your choice. You are making the choice because you get more out of the color green than you do winning. This isn't the case for the majority of people. Even if DS3 had 0 armor impact or stat impact, if people still found the game in some way shape or form enough to keep playing even though it is much less than what they wanted or they are used to they will still choose the optimal choice unless they get something else out of it. This is not what you may find fun but who are you to say that it is wrong for others to find it as such? They are getting the most out of what they were given. They can keep fighting for getting a more intricate game but even if it was the most complex thing on the planet a majority of people will still choose to be optimal and there is nothing wrong with that.

Me completely giving up on ever doing a boss solo ever again, if the base game is any indication. Or maybe I'll level to 99 Vigor before I attempt the DLC.

Jesus christ I've done the game to NG+3 solo on every boss, minus the one time I summoned that great swamp guy to get Cornyx's set.

I don't see how that changes everything.
When you create the age of Dark in any Dark Souls game by not linking the fire, the entire world is dark like the abyss. So the abyss does come to be. I guess I'm saying that in Pontiff and Aldrich's ways, they flood the world instead with low flood. I agree with what >>338416376 believes.

We actually get to see what an age of dark looks like in the Untended Graves in Dark Souls 3, where I belive Ludleth killed the firekeeper and thus Gundyr couldn't MMA kick and collect the lord souls himself, the poor guy. I assume Ludleth then felt guilty and Cinder'd himself to restore a short age of light (with no sun) and that's where we start off the game, shortly after.

I know the Age of Dark is supposed to be bad but the candles lighting everything reminded me too much of Demons Souls and I just fell in love with the design.

I'm guilty of believing that the First Firekeeper described in the eyes of a firekeeper item is the maiden in black of Demons Souls, because the End of Fire ending just makes the cycles end, and that the dead Firekeeper in the untended graves must have kept the candles lit while waiting for her hero, Champion Gundyr, who looks a helluva lot like Demons Souls "Old King Doran" to arrive, before she was murdered, just as the Maiden in Black in Demons Souls does for the Slayer of Demons.

All the candles around the depressed(?) or asleep Champion Gundyr in the Untended Graves is kind of really symbolic if you think about it. They were probably lit for Gundyr by the Firekeeper but no Firekeeper awaited him. Its tragic.

Perhaps this is just nostalgia though. But Namco Bandai did publish Demons Souls in Europe. The fact that we got weapons like the Storm Ruler and Morion Blade back shows that they can do call backs if they wanted to. Really appreciate them.

Yeah, and I'm super jealous of your big ol' e-wiener. I'm going towards 40, my reactions are shit and I used to love Souls games because they initially weren't reliant on twitch reaction until Bloodborne came along and decided that observation, care and patience should no longer be rewarded, only how frame perfect you can slap that dodge button. Souls game aren't for me anymore. I guess it's only turn-based games until the end of my life for me.

I use the Wolfsword Greatsword for PVP.

I have an 4/5 win rate.

I honestly think any weapon in the game is viable if u build correctly and learn the timing, the reach, and hitboxes, and weakness of your weapons.

I love my build. But the people who can beat me are people who use for example the gundyrs spear. Or pure magic.

How do you beat spears? I use a battleaxe and this aint Fire Emblem. I just get swiss cheesed. Every time I dodge the poke they just roll away and there is literally nothing I could do to prevent that.
