What are your thoughts on piracy?
Freedom fighters or filthy niggers?

Filty niggers
>>
the only ones who still offer demos
>>
>>338390791
Entitled millennial cunts
>>
>>338390791

Robbing bastards.

I used to pirate games to see if they'd run, a few years back games used to be so picky about systems, you could have the recommended spec and it still wouldn't run, so I'd pirate a game to test it, if it run, I'd buy, if not, I'd delete and ignore.

Demo version were important, I guess the demo nowadays is open beta.
>>
>I guess the demo nowadays is open beta.

It is. And people who complain about no demos are fucking stupid.
>>
>>338391751

It's a demo, but it's also time limited in that it only runs between certain dates.
>>
>>338391926
I don't know about pc, but on my ps4 there is a fuck ton of demos.
>>
How about you just deal with it.
>>
Who cares. Companies like to pretend it hurts them so much, but it doesn't really affect them anymore.
Not to mention shit is getting way harder to pirate. Just Cause 3 still doesn't have any crack or usable version.
>>
children or neets with no income

just pity them
>>
>>338392107
No. Vidya is not a fucking right. If you can't afford it, you can't have it.
>>
>>338390791
Neither. Most of them are people like me who want to try a game before they buy it, some are just assholes. I don't think anyone can say someone sitting behind a keyboard and playing video games is a freedom fighter.
>>
>>338392736
Then why are some games free?
>>
>>338392940
Nothing is free
>>
>>338393075
So you're saying I've already paid for these 'free' games by paying for internet service?

Why should I pay an individual fee for video games, then?
>>
>>338393075
Everything is pirated.
>>
>>338393263
Not doom
>>
>Freedom Fighters
No.
>Filthy Niggers
No, not really. They're just people who either A. want free shit or B. want game demos.
Or in the very rare case like Bulletstorm, just want to play the game at all cause shit like GFWL totally fucked any game tied to it.
>>
>>338393590

I hope you guys buy all your music you listen to, all your movie and anime you watch and all your porn you fap to. If not, then shut the fuck up you filthy pirates.
>>
>>338393958
Not really. They just want free shit. Doesn't matter how they get it, be it given to them or taking it with no effort, for example, Pirating takes no effort. To say they go out of their way to steal games is a tad incorrect.
Anyway, I'm gonna go play video games.

I rarely pirate things now, maybe a movie every once in a while.

The only things I would pirate are movies. Just doesn't feel right pirating games

Just bought and received my overwatch code from a key reseller. Got the origin edition for $25.

We'll see how that goes.

I don't pirate games and probably never will, but I like those that pirate JP games because it lets me see what they are before they're released in NA. Also it's good for people who will never be able to buy certain games, such as pic. I never pirate since I like to support franchises I buy, such as Kirby and Etrian Odyssey.
>>

"I have no comeback, so calling him fucking stupid will prove my point!"
Everyone laugh at this Anon.

Did you not read that Anon's post?
He did not say it WASN'T stealing, he said they don't care how they get it and thus, it's irrelevant to point out they go out of their way to steal games.
>>
Demos aren't good presentation of a full game. I pirate a game I'm interested in, and play for a few hours. If I like it, I buy it.
>>
>>338393590

>Stealing groceries isn't stealing, it's just people wanting free shit
>>

Not really??

Yes really you fucking moron, how old are you? Do you not understand how society works?

Jesus tittyfucking christ
>>

Food stamps, Anon. Free food. They use it because it's free and is nothing off their backs.
>>
If not for piracy we never would have gotten spotify, netflix, steam sales, all that great shit that makes it easier to obtain media legally

Piracy is a check on bad industry practices. If the competitor can deliver the product for free, companies have to make up for it with good service
>>
>>338394124

>someone leaves car running, keys in ignition, walks away

>>338396660
That's a really mediocre comparison and thought process, but you're allowed to think what you want, Pirating is wrong, but that doesn't make them Niggers.
>>
>>338390791
Filthy niggers, but sometimes its excusable.

Don't give me that freedom fighters bullshit. You aren't feeding the poor or even providing some education to the public. You're giving away someone else's toys that they're trying to sell to people. And while it is certainly more complex than HURR HURR INTERNET THIEF don't pretend like pirating games is some sort of noble or even justified endeavor.
>>
FIULTHY BITCH!!!
PIGSKIIINS!!!
>>
>>338390791
If i have zero way of playing the game otherwise i don't see the problem. Why should i spend 100+ dollars on a used copy of a game that went out of print 10+ years ago?
>>
If you can't afford it anyway then there's no real harm in pirating. If you can afford it and pirate anyway you are a leech, the lowest form a member of society can take. If you pirate to "teach companies a lesson" you are just full of shit. If you are proud of any of these things you are also a fucking moron.
>>
>>338394075
or
I support vidya, and pirate those other things because it's as important as vidya to me

meanwhile, piratefags post on /v/ 24/7 because they don't have a job, and still have the balls to claim they support good devs.
>>
Eh, it's basically legal in my country so who cares.
>>
>>338390791

>I'll fight for freedom by getting stuff without paying for it! What a selfless revolutionary I am!

What
>>
>>338397643
What about pirating educational software? Have you see the price of Rosetta Stone, for example? Or books. Some books are literally ancient, and yet its hard to get them for free in certain places.

I don't necessarily agree with pirates, but there is some good in it. But you're right, pirating games is like stealing toys.
>>
>>338391000
Pirating was a thing before the millenium. People copied tapes, vhs, and anything else they could.
>>
>>338397949

>If it's legal, than obviously it's ethical! If it's illegal, than it's obviously unethical

Fuck off, Hobbes
>>
>>338397864
>If you can't afford it anyway then there's no real harm in pirating.

How about earning something? You are not entitled to video games. If you can't afford the toy, then you don't get the toy.
>>
>>338393538
Not yet

:^)
>>
>>338398351
>If it's legal, than obviously it's ethical! If it's illegal, than it's obviously unethical

Yes it is.
>>
That's what they get for killing demos.

If they don't trust their own product and let me try it for a bit before buying then why should I even care?
>>
Pirates who don't try to justify it are alright in my books

Pirates who try to take some moral highground are fedoratipping faggots, though
>>
>>338398514

>Someone really believes this
>>
>>338390791
Filthy niggers should be eradicated. Fucking scum of the earth I swear.
>>
>>338398351
Ethicality is dependant upon one's own ability and desire to come to terms with their own actions and the possible consequences.

Legality does not always define morality, nor should it.

At least, that's how I see it.
>>
>>338398554
Basically this
>>
>>338398514
The obvious response to this is slavery.
>>
>>338390791
in betwwen, to be honest, I bought some video games because I pirated them before and foud them good, same for music and books.
>>
>>338398690
I'll care about the ethical justifications and juridical consequences that the act of piracy carries when i'm in a country that cares about those sort of things.

As i'm here, there is no reason to care for an industry that is the same as any other industry.

The only reason i don't pirate certain games is that i still want to play online sometimes.
>>
>>338398975
Which was ethical for centuries.
>>
>>338398365

I was thinking mostly about kids when I said that. People for who a disposable income is basically an impossibility and when they pirate there is not real tangible loss to anyone.

If you want to argue about social mobility for the poor I think that's another issue.
>>
>>338390791
I just recently got enough money to buy one or two videogame by month and I kept playing vidya because I could pirate
I don't see anything wrong pirating something you couldn't pay anyway.
>>
I pirate every game I can because my only income is the dole, I've been on it for nearly 2 years and I'm not required to look for work because I have a really shit medical condition.

It's basically a choice between play no games and pay for things like MRI scans, doctor's visits etc, or pirate games and still spend all my money on the medical crap, I feel no remorse for pirating.
>>
>>338390791
sometimes I pirate because I don't feel like paying

sometimes I pirate because I just want a demo
>>
>>338399160

Have you seen the attempts they made to justify slavery for all those years? Almost all of it can be summed up as basically "Some people are just born to be slaves. It's natural" This was also the reason they used to justify that the "high class" can never be slaves and if they were ever enslaved, by say a rival civilization, it was unethical and that person should be freed immediately.

Slavery was never ethical and they all fucking knew it.
>>
>>338399359
This, I feel, is somewhat excusable.

When my mom had cancer and my father left us for his secretary, I had no extra money or time to get her things to entertain her while she was bedridden.

So I pirated music, movies, and audiobooks for her.

All my time was spent taking care of her and working.

I felt bad. But I still did it.
>>
piracy is not good.
i can only understand it if you cannot buy it anywhere else (out of print, etc)
>>
>>338399359

Also I should add that I've had this medical condition for 3 1/2 years, I kept working a shitty part time job for the first 1/2 a year i had it, and I lived off my back pay for another whole year, since I had never taken any leave in like the 5 years i was there, only when I was desperate as fuck did I apply for the dole, I'll pirate till my situation changes.
>>
>>338390791
I prefer buying games to support devs, if there were a game that I don't care enough about to buy, I probably wouldn't bother playing it anyways.

Just pirating to catch up on a series or to try a game here or there isn't really anything bad. It's the digital crime equivalent of jaywalking. Something you shouldn't do, but who the hell really cares. Just needed to quickly get to what you needed and most times you'll just use the legitimate way. The shitty people are the diehard pirates who believe they're taking a stance by pirating. Mostly it's just idealistic nonsense based on principle and not the reality of the situation so they can justify themselves. Pirate culture is just as cringy as stoner culture, or anyone else who believes they're embarking on a holy crusade by indulging in and loudly supporting a slightly morally debatable crime.
>>
I pirate 3DS games but I'm not gonna pretend that it's to tell Nintendo off. I'm one person, I'm not gonna be a huge impact on the company.
>>
>>338400553

>buy the game after playing it
This makes me so fucking mad. That is NOT how it WORKS. You pay money for the product/service/experience, then you consume it, then AFTERwards, if it was truly horribly unacceptably atrocious, you consider possibly asking for a refund.

You don't get to attend a concert and then afterwards contemplate whether to pay for it. Fuck yoooooooou.

that's what fucking matters, which is why pirating is still for niggers
