Maybe the game is just really popular right now and people want to talk about it. It's not like the threads get spammed and get no replies.

No?

I hope Overwatch gathers a medium, stable playerbase blizzard steadily pumps some content out for and doesn't go full cancer community wise like CSGO, TF2 or mobas

I don't know if it's going to eclipse CS:GO, but it's going to suck literally every other FPS competitive scene dry. The problems a lot of these scenes have is that there's not a lot of money in tournaments and that the competitive game doesn't look anything like the game that the majority of players actually play. CS:GO having a ranked mode that anyone can get into and mirrors the same kind of play that professional players participate in brings in more viewers, which in turn brings in more money and sponsorships, which brings in more competitive players, and the cycle continues.

Most FPS games have a large gulf between what the general, "pub" experience looks like and what the "pro" competitive scene looks like. TF2 is the most obvious example - competitive sixes is nothing like what 99% of people who play TF2 think of when they think of the game, and as a result TF2 competitions don't have that many viewers who can relate to what they're watching. No viewers means almost no money, and as a result there's really only one "pro" team that even has sponsors in TF2. The same is true for almost every other competitive FPS scene - there's not enough viewers and not enough money.

Overwatch won't have ranked at launch, but it will soon afterwards. Even without ranked mode the standard quick play looks and feels a lot like competitive play when you queue with a six person party, and that already goes a long way toward keeping the format consistent with what competitive play looks like.

One thing Overwatch doesn't have and will probably never have is any kind of item trading system, and that means no betting - and illegal betting is arguably one of the biggest reasons why CS:GO has as much of a spectator driven competitive scene as it does. Betting has become as big in e-sports as it is in real sports in the last few years, but with even less regulation against it.
>>
>>338366641
they'd have to alter ults entirely to make people play it competitively as an e-sport

right now its for people who like butts and were bad at tf2

>>
>>338366641

No, Overwatch makes for a really shitty spectator experience because there isn't really a defined front like there is in successful spectator games like Starcraft, CS, and ASSFAGGOTS.

Almost everything you need to know in the aforementioned games are encoded in how the players and units are laid out in the field and pretty much all the strategies work off of this. It might be dangerous to go here because they are going to be cut off from their team and surrounded but could potentially catch the opponent off guard. It's all about movement and strength throughout the map and this can very easily be shown to the viewer in very concrete terms with a minimap or simply by panning across the map or switching from player to player.

In Overwatch the frontline really just consists of a series of chokepoints where a bunch shit happens. Instead of surrounds or outmaneuverings you just get a series of breakthroughs. These can be exciting when they happen but when they don't it is boring as hell for a spectator.

>>
>>338368449
>I bet you a meta will form.
There is nothing there to form. There is no customisation in weapons so no options, skills are very simple and don't allow huge options and counter picking is very obvious and rigid

The most that can happen is people realise certain characters just aren't really worth playing

Its super fast paced with a low TTK, very clear graphics and effects so you know whats going on with large playmaker ults to quickly turn the tide.

It also got the perfect setup for alot of different comps that fits each teams playstyle.
>>
>comparing an established esports game with casual blizzard trash
>Strawmanning with skins arguments, while that has nothing to do with the discussion and blizz Jews WILL monetise OW in the exact same way eventually

Csgo is a serious esports game because it's unforgiving formula creates the games depth and those ebin moments. It also appeals to an older crowd with deeper pockets. The gameplay formula makes it a competitive game and that is where it's lasting appeal comes from.

I strongly doubt overwatch will have the same lasting appeal and gameplay debt. Tf2 comes closest and it never had a serious esports scene, while it's competitive play was better.

If it will become better? I think LoL is complete garbage but it has a vibrant esports scene. The quality of a game is sadly not a good indication of its esports success. I guess if you have enough twitch kiddies to dedicate to your game and twitch channel it will be a success. Will it become bigger? Prolly not. The whole comparison is bullshit to begin with anyway. I just like arguing and calling out supporters for their laughable taste.

Overwatch is a casual game created by a now casual company for casual players who want to have somewhat "clutch" rushy feelings while playing. Any attempt to make it a esport game will force it and create a divide in the playerbase resulting in the minority being people tryharding at a casual game like retards instead of getting into a real competitive game and the majority being casual players enjoying the game.

Because its a fucking casual game.

Rinse and repeat argument for casual games throughout history. Do you believe in magic? I don't. I believe in facts.

Overwatch in its current state is a poor e-sport for spectators. Way too much chaos. It's difficult to determine what is going on in a fight until its over.

Damage done is meaningless because healers just negate it all. Even kills can be undone. The action is very fast paced but it all feels transient.

In CS:GO there are quiet moments to balance out crazy kills, or a great play. There aren't really moments like that in Overwatch. The whole thing can just pass you by, and you'll never really have a sense of what were the pivotal moments in game.

I hope you people aren't serious

But Overwatch requires no skill so that means CSGO takes no skill.
>>
Probably not.
There isn't enough emphasis on solo skill, so a lot of the best fps players won't play it as much competitively.
At best it will get a bit more popularity than TF2 as an e-sport, but fall into the same niche.

>thinks similar responses to the same post is shilling

Oh man, when 20+ posts respond with surprised reaction faces it's also paid for by a big cooperation too, right?

Stop with the tinfoil hat shill shit.

t.shiller

Why is it tinfoiling tho? Obviously OW has a enormous marketing budget, what could possibly stop them from paying people to promote the game?

>Blizzard are the biggest jews

I'm a valve drone and I know that isn't right. You do realize that trying to lock mods behind a paywall alone makes Valve huge jews right?
>>
>>338371458
every game from blizzard is behind a paywall you cuck.

But is unwatchable unless you fully understand the game.
>>

Yeah there are no shills there

during beta my daily quota of hidden waifuwatch threads was around 80 threads, mostly regarding your best waifus, what did he meant with this, that chimp, nerf mai, nerf this, will it surpass X game,is better than X game, blizzard wins again and so on

During mornings I had around 40 hidden threads, twenty or more were shillwatch related,a good chunk of shitty shouls 3 threads, parkourcharted 4 and his nyggers reposting the same things over and over, then some other crap game like doom being hated or shilled.

Then someone openly admitted to be a blizzdrone marketeer and started to sell ticket for shittywatch convention in his town, then another one and possibly two more

Then multiple jewnuvo threads, some replies or better say a fake discussion was copy pasted from a two month old thread,it was like someone having fun bumping his thread with copy pasted arguments to bait users in it

There is a general board for this crap but browsing /v/ sometimes is like browsing /asp/ minus the bulky and sweaty baldies hugging themselves in op pictures

everybody understands team based war, meanwhile overwatch and blizzshit in general is like a bad acid trip. just confusing and weird clown simulator.

or Brink. nobody talks about it anymore or plays it even if it was supposed to be the "next big thing" and "esports". That´s what is gonna happen to this flavor of the month shit too.
>>
>>338366641

No.

Primarily because teams have already made it clear they don't enjoy it. There was a write up by one of CLG's players about Dreamhack recently, and how Blizzard refused to even talk to the teams or have anyone on site, and refused to help with anything in-regards to the tournament. Overwatch's presence at Dreamhack was one big advertisement.

Major teams are passing on having an Overwatch team and ESL, CEVO and Starladder have all expressed concern over the fact that Blizzard doesn't seem to be interested in working with them, only leeching off their tournament promotions. Look how Blizzard handled Heroes of the Storm. That's how Overwatch is going to go.

A game with crutch abilities like wallhack and aimbot will only be a fungame made for idiots coming from LoL or Dota
