i need to know, /v/. i've been playing through dsII before delving into three and my armor is apparently fucking magnetic because these trash-mob dickmunches can't seem to miss me and act on a rotating pivot perpetually. does this still hold true in 3, and if so, can i atleast roll through?

but that's not true, as one of the attacks is clearly an overhead and his hitbox is pretty narrow. yet the boss does a 180 turn to face the player.

i have no defense for shitty hitboxes. they are shit.
holding your weapons, though, is also a core gameplay mechanic, and boy do you have to level up 1-4 stats to do so.
you become more proficient at blocking damage with your shields when you level endurance/vitality, and to wield better absorption shields, strength/dex. why should rolling be given a free pass when it makes you take NO damage, not a reduced amount like blocking, while also giving you crazy mobility?
most shields will also receive more stamina penalty for blocking hits than rolling does for avoiding them.
this isn't bloodborne after all, shields are a core gameplay mechanic. why should i spend levels to use shields, anyway? let me pick up havel's from lvl 1 next time from.

Dodging is such a vital part of these games that tying a stat to them and STILL making the hitboxes total garbage is a sign of why Dark Souls 2 shit.
Not to mention movement dead zones.

it isn't dodging that's vital, it's damage mitigation. rolling, blocking, parrying, or simply playing smartly to avoid being hit at all. i truly don't see why rolling should be given unlimited power when blocking especially is comparatively weak.
parrying is questionable; it takes some actual skill to land consequent parries, though it also doesn't give you a great change in your position, and is extremely obvious when it will be performed in PVP -- while plenty of moves are also unparryable.
honestly you can call almost anything in the game a 'vital part of these games', like damage, or even item discovery (which has so conveniently just been tied to a stat), and ask 'but why should i have to level it to use it?' -- because it's a part of the game, and i absolutely agree that levelling rolls is balanced.
i also believe that if they'd kept ADP in DS3 there would be FAR fewer complaints because of how accurate most hitboxes are, and how few shockwaves i noticed while playing.
