Wage slaves of /v/, what do you think about at work during your mind numbing 8 hour shifts?

obscure fetishes that I have.

I think about what animu to watch next or what game to play next.

I work night shifts.... with nobody to supervise me. So I can just watch animu and play handheld vidya all night.

I noticed recently that when I'm working my mind tends to disappear. My conscious mind at least. I am literally zoned out and become a worker drone for 3-4 hours straight until someone speaks to me and i snap out of it.

There's 10 hour shifts in Amerifat land too, mostly warehouses. One warehouse I worked at even had a 12 hour shift.

10 hour shifts are hell.
The 12 hour shift was probably the worst thing I'll ever do in my life and afterlife but damn if it didn't pay well.
>>
>>338348554
Well, I work in front of a 3000 degree oven and around hot HF. So, really, just try not to die.
>>
>>338349554
When cashiering for long periods of time I can zone out and just let the time fly, my body knowing automatically everything that I need to do, but damn if I can't get into that zone then time slows to a fucking crawl.
>>
>>338349554
Its god tier when this happens but all it takes is one asshole to be a prick and throw you off your groove then you are spending the rest of the shift trying to recover.
>>
I spend a lot of time in the bathroom playing my Vita.
And a majority of the other time at my desk playing Granblue or Picross on my phone. When I get bored of those, Kindle.
Sometimes I just stare at the screen blankly and sort of do this half meditate half sleep thing.

They pay me just because state regulations require x number of people in the department at all times. I rarely actually do work.
>>
>>338348554
I usually just go into auto-pilot and think about the design of games I like or have recently played.

I think about what to eat afterwards since I'm on my feet all day. Being a waitress is a tiring job mentally and physically. Having to walk around all day and dealing with customers is pretty draining. And whenever I do dishes, I kinda zone out and wonder where I went wrong in several places or just hum random songs.

I also wonder what manga I'm going to read next or game I'm gonna play when I get home.

12 hour days from Mon - Fri while on Saturday it's 8 hours.
I'll play stuff when I'm not buggered I guess, I've been getting less bothered with games though since I don't really have the time to play them.
>>
I think many people will relate to this.

I spend my whole shift thinking of what game I'm going to play, what I'm going to do in it, how I can get around something I stopped at.
But when I come home from work on tired, and I just do some bullshit on the Internet and go to sleep.

Lately I feel like I'm literally a character from The Sims

My job consists of
>Walking from station to station doing specific things and specific stations
>Once one thing is over with I just go on to the next
>Sometimes co-workers start talking to each other, they ask some random bullshit and then abruptly stop talking and walk away in complete silence to go do more useless tasks.
>Only ever leave the windowless room I work in to go to the bathroom/eat
>At the end of it all everyone says goodbye while walking out
>Rinse and repeat every fucking day

I also work 9.5 hour shifts because my job are jews and don't want to pay me for my 30 minute lunch break, so I have to work extra.

12 hour shift overnights here 6-6

3 day workweek with 4 days off for vidya. Those 3 days go by very fast since i have no time for relaxing or slacking at work. I have to stay very busy and keep moving for my entire shift. when i get home i take my sleeping pills and then before i know its time to go back to work.

I don't really live until my days off, those 3 days a week are basically full robot mode. I think about all the grinding and hype myself for vidya for my days off, but i usually just end up 420blaze it and browse 4chan when i actually get my free time.

I think the best job you can get for neet life and buying vidya is a night shift in a small call center

I used to work in one and I was changed to the night shift for a week and there were only like 3 people in the entire building, no supervisors, fucking saw 1 guy sleeping below his cubicle desk once, we had to answer like 1-3 calls the entire shift and we could use our phones and literally do anything until the morning

I have two jobs (three soon).

One job is operator, so I just transfer phones and play Dirt Rally and Civilization 5 all day.

My other job I do while I'm drunk, because everyone is drunk and I get paid in beer.

I work in a call center right now but it's making outgoing calls mostly. I've done incoming jobs before and it's actually pretty snug a lot of the time

I work at soda factory/brewery in a packing line. I have eight hour shifts but I got two half hour shifts that are part of the day so I basically work seven hours per day.
Its a three shift job so every week has different schedule.
Next week is nigh-shift from 10pm to 6am, which pays extra too.
Then is evening shift from 2pm to 10pm
And lastly morning shift from 6am to 2pm.
Most I do is get the materials and keep the machines topped up with materials for the packages then supervise it a bit so it all looks fine and dandy. Then sit down, shitpost here for 5-10 minutes, then fill machines up, check up the packages, clear up malfunctions if any appears, then shitpost some more.

I put in 70 hours most weeks. I own my own company, and fuck no I'm not telling any of you what it is. So I have to do everything from filing claims for employees to sales when a rep slacks off or disappears. I'm up late most nights either working the numbers or refining the product and marketing.

I could hire people to do most of that but why? Instead of someone there for a paycheck I get to keep the profit. Or more accurately reinvest it.

I estimate another 8 years of this and I can retire. Or sell if anyone shows interest. Work excites me, always has. I have never wasted work hours. Which is exactly how I got to this point.

It depends on the customers you get. Some days it's ok, other times it isn't. I work at a local family owned restaurant with extremely loyal customers. The kind that keep going to eat in for 40+ years. So most know the menu and how we operate. I also enjoy the stories some of the older patrons tell, what they did when they were younger and stuff like that.

The regular shift was hell on earth though that's why I had to quit, I couldn't stay too long in the night shift either because I go to uni and I was only there because another guy was 'sick' for a week

The thing is that the military likes to try to be efficient, but that shit doesn't happen.

If we go for awhile without our shit breaking and nothing crazy going on then we could be rolling out right after lunch every day, if not before.

The higher ups see that, assume we can do the same amount of work with less people if we work a standard day, and we lose said extra people.

Then shit hits the fan and we all get fucked.

So we bullshit a lot and pretend to work longer hours than we honestly do so the big dogs way up top don't fuck us raw later.

A lot of that gets lost somewhere along the line because we end up doing stupid bullshit.

Which I hide and sleep for.

I work in a technology development centre for an insurance companie, and the meetings there are super fucking boring. My job role means I spend 60 - 80% of my day sitting in a room listening to people talk. Usually my mind tends to wander (especially when we get into the nitty gritty of financial topics) and thats when I inexplicable conjure up sexy thoughts. Not regular sexy thoughts, super hot, boner inducing thoughts that give me a massive stiffy. Then I have to spend the rest of the meeting trying to shift it somewhere comfy while discreetly rubbing it, cause damn does it feel good. Outside the meeting, sexy thoughts almost never cross my mind.
Sometimes I fantasize about co-workers in the room, and look them directly in the eye while rubbing myself

Inventory stocker here. I just kinda do my work. If it's during the first "phase" of work before the store opens (4am shift) then usually my coworkers and I will all chit chat and tell jokes or stories while working, or complain about life. Once the store opens we usually disperse to different sections and from there I just do work and zone out a bit, maybe think about some recent events or admire the pretty ladies around. Every now and then your section is next to another team member's and you can chit chat a bit, or a kiosk salesperson will give you some free food. It's not exactly boring to me, it's not fun either (except when I'm with a few bro-tier coworkers), I just do my work, snack during breaks, and go home. I don't feel drained from boredom or anything.

Then every month you can order 24 cans/bottles of product of your choosing. Sodas, water, energy drinks every month, alcohol every second month.
Then there's "production pay" some sort extra payment that they'll pay if overall production rate, quality etc. was good.

Work for a major American car company in a Union shop. I pay around $80 for union dues a month. But full benefits, pays for my school, bonuses throughout the year etc.

Have to put up with salary though. Salary workers make it their mission to fuck with union workers. Sending people home for stupid shit. Number crunching, making shit up based off of their garbage math, and trying to bust balls for "lack of productivity".

The job has me moving boxes around all day. Thankfully I work in the large parts of the warehouse. Wheels, exhausts, mufflers, etc. If a salary worker ever flags me down to get my attention, I usually wait until they're just close enough to possibly hear what they're saying, then drive in the opposite direction and take a break.

As for making $30, that's all I'll ever make. No higher, but can't go lower. Our temporary employees start at $15.87.

Next up: one anon recommended soya frontier. Though I'm open to other time sinks.

Really though I have a bad case of insomnia so this works. My girlfriend works days so I leave when she sleeps, and I wake up when she comes home. Everything just fits nicely

Work the sales floor at Wal-Mart. There are times where you just have to look busy but you're doing jack shit honestly.
>>

what everyone always says: graveyard shift security work. if you live in a decent area, nothing will ever happen and you literally just have to glance up at a camera every once in a while while shitposting on 4chan

Its not worth it anon. Losing your freedom and living with constant fear or prison rape isnt worth it

>have 3 hour shifts 5 days a week for only $9.50hr
>have to somehow find a fulltime job this summer since I have nothing else to do
how do I get into a better position here, I'm not even done with my college associates degree
>>
>>338353390
Wait, salary workers? You mean like the pencil pushers, right?
>>

I work, 3 hours a day and get paid 50000 SEK each month by my parents. I manage our family webpage and respond to mail.
So can only play games for like 12 hours a day

a few years ago I studied at a maritime college where during the summers you had to go out on the school's training ship to get sea time. Since there were way more of us onboard than actual jobs they thought up pointless tasks to make our lives even more miserable than they already were.

One such task was to have a person standing watch at the bow of the ship 24 hours a day, never mind that the people on the bridge have a much longer visual sight radius since they're higher up, and they have radar so they'd see anything coming long before it was even in visual range, never mind that it is always windy as fuck on the deck of a ship.

I don't know if you've ever been out to sea but at night time it gets absolutely pitch black, like how dark it gets if you're driving on a country road and turn out your headlights. You can't see ANYTHING. Lots of people who were doing the overnight bow watch would jack off while they were there to pass the time, we called it a bow thruster.

in the location i'm at all the security forces are like the total opposite

the one that regularly advertises on the local craigslist even has some post that was obviously written by a baby boomer WE NEED HARD WORKERS, WE DON'T NEED LAZY PEOPLE LOOKING FOR A HANDOUT, etc. etc.

If you've gotten to the point of contemplating suicide, you might as well just do illegal stuff for money
>>
>>338350549
Find a better job man, life is about living, and working to have money to fuel that life, not about work BEING your life. i work a retail job, i'm a supervisor, sometimes its rough like this week, sometimes its easy, i live a good life. you should too.

I've had employers ask me to do illegal shit and threaten to fire me if I didn't comply. And then didn't pay me in the end anyway because they were assholes.

I'm in lawschool now.

I have just the opposite problem. I feel the best after more than 10 hours of sleep, but sometimes I wake up after 6 hours or so and can't go back to sleep despite feeling like shit.
My bed is trash too.

>Work from 6am to 2pm
>Oh boy I can't wait to go home, I'm gonna play so many video games!
>Get home
>Oh my god I'm so fucking tired
>Fall asleep for the next 15 hours until I have to go to work again

And then instead of playing video games over the weekends when I'm off, I'm dicking around on the internet or spending too much time on /v/. Seriously, it's the worst shit ever. I need to finish video games and I just can't bring myself to have the energy for it most of the time.

This thread is why I'm a NEET
>>
Worked shop floor for Tesco's, got moved cashiers just yesterday for managing to somehow get ten customer recommendations during my time covering there.

I dunno how people survive months on grocery, it's a killer on the body and is mentally grating because of how tedious it is. I'm not really /fit/ though so it's probably just me being a weak sauce. Checkouts makes time fly though since you can just autopilot, so hopefully I won't have to think much at all.

>not allowed to sit

this is still one of the most retarded policies ever

like it's totally understandable when there's actual work to be done but places that have "anti-sitting" policies even when there isn't shit going on is some of the most draconian bullshit ever
