What do you have to say now?
i like it
I haven't been so impressed with a fps since Half Life 2 back in 2004.
My only gripe is it feels like it has no story. You just walk and fight a wave of monsters and thats it.
>>338338985
I want more. And a better video card to run it on.
>>338338985
as an oldschool fan being involved in the doom 1/2 online community for over 10 years i genuinely enjoyed it
sure, it's not doom 1 or 2 but it's as close as you could get, keeping the doom feel of the original games while modernizing it
the only faults of the game is the multiplayer is a generic arena shooter, snapmap was a rush job with a limited amount to offer, no co-op campaign, no mod support
8/10 game overall
I don't understand why they tried so hard to make it look like shit when it was actually great. But damn, the PC version crashes a lot and now it won't even launch for me.
Literally every game that comes out is wreathed in "OMG ITS THE BEST GAME IN [GENRE OF GAME] EVER ZOMG BUY IT BUY IT 10/10" - IGN
Meaningless drivel, the game may or may not be good but these 10 a penny accolades are not an indicator of quality and never have been.
>>338339552
why would you play doom for the story
>>338339552
>implying there is any problem with that
>>338338985
Entertaining singleplayer, shit multiplayer
>>338339865
Zero crashes for me. Hardware issue perhaps?
>>338338985
Haven't played it so I can't really say but I don't trust modern reviewers, CoD, cinematic games, yearly Ubisoft games, have gotten similar praise and I find those games boring and shit.
>all those paid reviews and shilling
Wow, you truly made me change my mind OP
>Nightmare difficulty balanced so much around utilizing all weapon functions that it's pretty clear they must know that having all weapons available is important to the gameplay
>Snapmap forces a two weapon limit
>BFG made OP through universal ammo
>Gauss severely gimped through ammo capacity nerf
>Chainsaw removed
>Most weapon mods missing
Why the fuck?
Sounds good. I wish I could buy the game and hardware to run it on.
Still fucking hate the cyberdemon redesign.
>>338339552
No story is good.
The lore is also 10/10 which is great.
>>338340654
Snapmap was probably outsourced.
>>338339865
Drop your texture cache or whatever the option is from Ultra.
>>338341335
It was outsourced to Escalation. The guy leading the project been involved in some Doom 2 expansions and (I think) one of the Quake mission packs, though. I figured they'd at least know well enough to not butcher the SP mechanics.
>>338339783
I'm glad I got a 390 now. This game runs and looks fucking amazing at max settings.
>>338342147
They probably weren't given the SP mechanics to use though. Instead, they likely got Certain Affinity's shitty multiplayer mode, since Snapmap carries over all the multiplayer customization, at least I think it does, since I got the notification for the preorder DLC when I first launched snapmap.
>>338342147
>expansions
you mean WADs right?
>>338338985
>not 10/10
its shit
>>338342750
have they fixed the issues with the 390 yet? I haven't bought the game yet since I kept hearing a lot of AMD cards were completely gimped
>reviews are worthless reviewers are dumb get rid of reviews!
>except this time i like what they said this time
Music could be a bit better but it's seriously the best shooter I've played in 10 years.
/v/ completely BTFO
>>338343178

defend this
I still like it
Been playing multiplayer with myfriendsonps4every night since release. it's nice, simple, hectic fun.
>>338339552
The game has fucking story
The fact that its tied up in codex menues for you to discover and interpret is 10/10
God forbid every 'game' isn't a movie with QTEs
>>338343178
Yes, there is a driver out to address that issue.
After listening to everyone sick it's dick I truly believe it's being shilled hard, just like Overwatch.
I don't know if I've heard an outlet say one negative thing about the game.
Maybe it's good but I'm not going anywhere near it.
>>338343307
i already have the 390, bought it like 8 months ago when my old graphics card when kaput
>>338343354
cool, thanks
>>338338985
10/10
Its what you would expect doom to play like in 2016
They somehow made doomguy even more awesome which astounds me
Its painfully obvious the multiplayer is tacked on, and I don't ever want to touch it again, but Doom might have replaced Transformers Fall of Cybertron as my go to guilty pleasure game
>>338343178
Yes. Latest drivers improved performance for the 390 by a drastic amount. Didn't have them installed when I first tried playing and got sub-60 on max settings. Once I installed them I now get ~80 FPS on average with everything cranked up to the highest at 1080p. Your mileage may vary at higher resolutions, but I only have a 1080p monitor so I wouldn't get that big of a benefit from running it at a higher res.

Close, full of niggers but it's winter.
thought the gameplay in the campaign was pretty awesome, now i look foward to playing the classic maps
>>338338985
Two words: double jump
>>338339331
What about Half life 3?
>another generic console shooter with a 6-hour campaign and no mods for 60 bucks
>>338339552
I felt this way at first too, until I realized at the end that it's a sequel to Doom64, making it canon to the original games
For those that don't know, Doom64 takes place after Doom 2, and ends with Doomguy staying in hell forever, to make sure no demon crosses over ever again.
>pre-release
>everyone is down on the game
>reviewers not given copies before release date, making it seem as if they're not confident in the product
>game comes out
>everyone loves it
Legitimately impressed.
>>338346104
All they had to do was give us single player demo of one of hell's levels. Instead they gave dog shit tier multiplayer.
Too bad multiplayer is absolute shit.
>>338338985
where the fuck is the crack
Does it features Dante from the Devil May Cry series?
>>338339947
that's funny, since IGN gave it a lower score than the average reviewer.
I wanted to pirate it but since I can't atm I'm gonna have to buy it. Just been playing Doom1 for the first time and have been having a fucking blast. Only on starting chapter of Inferno and it just seems ridiculous.
>>338338985
Need more doom 3 spookiness 2bh
It was more satanic and horrifying
Doom 4 is just boring
>>338346228
Unless it's a fighting game, multiplayer is for casuals anyway, so who the fuck cares?
>>338346183
Give every one low expectations so when it comes out every one is impressed.
>>338338985
Haven't played it but it looks pretty good. I'm waiting for the crack.
It definitely looks fun.
But I simply won't have time for the multiplayer mode (which is supposedly the worst part of the game anyway), and I'm not paying $60 for the single-player mode. I'll wait until it's cheap and play other shit in the meantime. There are games I want to play which I haven't played yet. Some of them I already own, and others I can buy for less than $5 right now because they're old. I think it would be irrational to spend $60 on a new game when I can save more than half of that money just by playing a few other games first.
My only problem is no quicksave, I hate running around the level exploring and then dying and having to spend 10 minutes doing everything over again.
>>338346948
You're completely right. Why are you on /v/ in a new-release thread about a game you'd buy for cheap?
>>338340276
You realize like 99% of Youtubers are also happy with the single-player? Bethesda made a lot of money with FO4 but I doubt they somehow managed to pay off every gaming site except IGN and every old-school FPS Youtube channel.
>>338347213
Meh. I don't know.
I'd definitely consider paying more for the game if the multiplayer were actually the good part.
It's a 7/10 at best. It's only getting so much praise purely because it didn't turn out to be a disgrace to the series like everyone was expecting.
Bravo, Zenimax.
Will be very glad to see defenders of this shit disappear in a couple weeks.
>>338338985
I say I'd like to see it raced at the next AGDQ.
>>338339552
All the lore is out of the way. The codec entries you can stop to read if you want, you can watch the holograms and listen to the hell logs. It's there, for those who want it.
>>338338985
I have to say that I was wrong (apparently) and that I really need to update my computer.
>Intel Core i3 2120
>Radeon HD 6800
>>338345590
That doesn't even hurt anymore.
>>338348198
Just like my Dark Souls!
Absolutely love it. I just wish they scrapped multiplayer & done a horde mode,
I bet everyone would of been happy with that instead.
>>338338985
It looks amazing and for a large part I think it really is an action packed experience worth owning.
I'm just not in a position to pay 60 bucks for something I'll play for ten hours every six months, while great, it's just not an option. Maybe if the modding/map community takes off.
Thoughts from people who have played it?
>>338343312
works fine for me sucker!
>>338339552
yeah that's Doom
>>338343409
>Maybe it's good but I'm not going anywhere near it.
What a terrible attitude. I mean, I assumed it was going to be utter shit too, I've been dismissing it for years. All the good things I've heard has got me curious though. I'll either pirate it when I can, or buy it on sale.
>>338340073
Its denovo
>>338346104
It was a similar situation with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, though the 180 came with the leaked demo.
>>338348553
It was good, not amazing, but its really good. It runs well, the OST is alright, and the enemy and level designs are all really solid.
>>338343312
what a shit player
>>338347167
but you dont? well not most of it any way the games saves all weapon challenge progress, collectibles, secrets, and upgrades when you die. you just have to murder everything again which is fun. unless you're on UN
>>338343497
>Doom might have replaced Transformers Fall of Cybertron as my go to guilty pleasure game
I loved the transformers games, It's probably because of the customization. Transformers was pretty awesome in that regard and Doom also has all these different armor parts and color options and the available taunts are amazing and hilarious
the multiplayer gameplay itself, like Transformers is really barebones though
>hop back on Zdaemen
>there's actually tons of people playing
Childhood, here I come.
>>338338985
That Bethesda fucking sucks at marketing, holy shit
Why couldn't they show off that the single player was actually pretty good outside the music and enemy designs being ass instead of pushing the garbage multiplayer so hard?
>>338339850
mods are illegal per the TOS you agree to buy installing the game, if you break the law I hope you end up in jail.
>>338338985
Is there a crack out yet? Definitely doesn't seem the kind of game I'd want to drop $60 bucks on.
If there isn't I'll probably check Redbox tomorrow and grab it for PS4, although console controls are not ideal.
>>338346554
>doom3
>horrifying
Maybe if you're a little girl I guess.
I grew up with the originals and I fucking love this game. I might even like it more than Doom 1. What the fuck how did this happen?
>>338348495
After playing the multiplayer a bit more it wasn't as bad as I first thought. But I would of rather had that horde mode.
If you guys could how would you fix the MP? Im really suprised it wasn't a reskinned Q3A. I think that would of made the game my GOAT for sure.
>>338350004
upvoted, my friend.
>>338350139
At least it's easy to make horde modes in snapmap and there are already like countless variants made. The 2-weapon limit and universal ammo only really fucking bums me out though.
Right now I'm hoping there is a reference somewhere in the game to the Doom Guy's pet rabbit, Daisy.
>>338350139
I don't see what the problem is with just making the multiplayer the exact same as singleplayer?
>>338350543
are you retarded?
do you want to be staggered and taken down randomly? because thats like 75% of the single player appeal

This is one of its advantages, in fact the few story segments where you're locked in a room are the worst parts of the campaign
You still get your lore through listening to those audio runes things, and the lore tab in the menu, but for everyone who doesn't give a fuck there's just gameplay
