I sure did, though the Dreamcast launch marks when I started to become a normie. I got my first girlfriend a few days before it released, and when I picked mine up from Ames on release day, I was super excited to get home and set it up. I had no sooner finished hooking it up, popping the Sonic Adventure disc in and pressing power, when my girlfriend called me. I sat there on the phone with her for a good hour just watching the attract mode play over and over. That was the first time a girl ever came between me and my vidya, and sadly it wasn't the last. The Dreamcast will always be special to me because it was basically a symbol of my growing up.

I basically only bought a Dreamcast for Code Veronica. I was a huge RE fan at the time and was kind of obsessed with the series. I had all the games, a bunch of the action figures, a couple comic books, and some of the S.D.Perry books. When I found out Code Veronica was coming out on the Dreamcast, I knew I needed the console. Got one on release day and pre-ordered CV along with it. A few days after CV came out but before my copy had arrived at my house I was away from home with my Dreamcast and I happened to be in a Funcoland, and I picked up a copy right then and there even though I knew I was going to have a copy when I went home in just a few days. That was the first game I ever owned multiple copies of at the same time. It turned out to be a pretty sweet game, but I only played through it once. Even though Claire was and still is mai waifu, the game just didn't grab me the way RE2 did.

I played the fuck out of House of the Dead and Soul Calibur. Ended up going with a PS2 down the line. Still have my PS2 and all the games I got for it (huge ass cardboard box). No idea what happened to my Dreamcast. It's a shame because I got it at release too.

They would have been royally fucked, more so than they were after Dreamcast.
Look back on the Saturn. It was NOT doing so well outside of Japan. SEGA of Japan was too busy thinking they were fine to notice that they basically shot themselves in the foot by assuming control over SoA (which was what caused Tom Kalinske to leave SEGA). Saturn launched too early in NA, pissed off retailers who didn't have it, pissed off consumers who couldn't find or afford it, and pissed off devs who weren't ready at early launch with their games.
PlayStation and N64 were wrecking Saturn in the west. SEGA had a ton of layoffs right before Dreamcast. Saturn was no longer of interest by '97, leaving SEGA without a console all of '98 and most of '99. Waiting was not an option.
DVD licensing was still expensive even after the PS2's launch, SEGA was hemorrhaging money left and right, and just BARELY escaped bankruptcy (it was either declare bankruptcy or go third party).

Just snagged a great condition cib Shenmue from ebay for $30. And JSR for $15 last week.
Got a Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure 2 in 2001 for my birthday from my dad. Went right to the mall afterwards and bought Sonic Adventure, and a VMU. Browsed around Planet Dreamcast after beating the games to check out any recommended stuff.
Picked up Samba de Amigo, ChuChu Rocket, Marvel vs Capcom and so on. A friend, who was ditching his DC for a PS2, gave me his copy of Soul Calibur. Another recommended me PSO, which ended up being my very first online game. That Christmas, I picked up Shenmue.
Soon, GameStop was starting to slowly shrink down their shelf space for Dreamcast games and I managed to pick up a copy of Jet Set Radio, Grandia II, and Skies of Arcadia before they vanished. Got to also keep a rented copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 since Blockbuster was getting rid of their Dreamcast section.
I could go on, but needless to say, I have a ton of fond memories of the system and clocked a shit ton of hours into it. Hell, a friend of mine convinced me to play FFX all the way through, saying it was the best RPG ever. Wanted to slap them after, since it took me away from G2 and SoA.
