Hasn't that actual program been cracked already? I don't understand anything about DRM, but it seems to me that once you understand how the program actually works then most of the work is already done. From what I understand is that for most other games it's basically just reading whatever code the game executes and picking out what parts are or require values inputted by the DRM. I wonder what's so special about this one that makes it so hard to come out with a crack for it. It's not like it has to be constantly connected to some server somewhere, right?

Denuvo has never been cracked. However, a flaw in the first version was exploited to bypass it. That exploit has been patched since JC3 though.

You bring up a fun point though. Quake had vertical aiming and vertical auto aim. By default it was set to be mild. sv_aim is the command and I think setting it to 1 disables it.

Apparently you torrent the preload game, pay someone who owns the game a pittance ($2-4 for their time), they use Teamviewer to set up and log in to an alternate Steam.exe on your PC with their account and activate the denuvo game, then log out and set it in offline mode. They leave, neither of you know each other's Steam account information, they leave with $2, you are left with a working offline copy of Doom.
If you use the exe to go online or reinstall Windows it disappears, and yeah, it's weird paying for a pirated copy, but you can play it for $2 instead of $60. Consider it a rental.

Denuvo encrypts its processes using the hardware configuration of your PC and rewrites itself anytime it detects something going wrong. The first part also means that attempting to bypass the system without breaking into its inner workings is impossible since it won't work for everyone.
It protects the actual DRM of the game, it is not DRM in itself. The past few cracks fooled the distribution system of the game (such as Steam) into thinking the user is legit, so Denuvo has never been cracked.
The length of time in which this has gone on is unprecedented, which is why habitual pirates are so up in arms right now. Just posting the Denuvo image alone with no text is probably decent bait for buttpain and salt.
