The characters were absolutely terrible. Jacob was okay, but Evie was fucking awful. You can tell the writers were trying to make her a cheeky Brit but just made her into an insufferable twat. POO IN THE LOO assassin was only there to be a love interest for EvieSurprise, surprise. Ubisoft is pushing race mixing
The story was boring as all hell, with one of the most dull endings I've ever seen.
The villains (with the exception of that guy in the theatre) are all boring and one dimensional.
Traversal was too slow, even with the grappling hook.
Enemy variety was absolute shit.
Combat was the worst in the series. Bulkier enemies weren't harder to kill; they just dragged out fights. You could no longer equip more than one weapon at a time, and the hidden blades were completely contextual.

Also Rome is cool and all but it's the only city in the game and it's kinda gray while 2 had 3 totally different cities with different color schemes and different atmospheres.

So I've never played an AC game, but I did watch my roommate play all of them up through 3.
Can someone explain the ending of 3 to me and what has happened since?
I get that Desmond kind of sacrificed himself to give Juno power and save the Earth from a solar flare, but what's that shit in the epilogue about the guy telling you about the piviots? I get that the pivots are cheats or something, but plot wise does that mean that someone new has started using an animus and is altering the timeline? Is that why the George Washington expansion happens?
And so what happens after all that? Is the new assasinated line still fighting the templars? Does Juno rule the world?

Just finished Black Flag recently, and I think what happened was that Juno became part of "the Internet", basically, she's not a physical being. I think the First Civ tech at the temple in 3 allowed her to connect her "conscience", whatever the hell she was at that point, remember she was apparently locked inside the temple, with the "Internet". I can't remember what the deal with the pivots were. Yeah Assassins are still vs. Templars after it, they're underpowered though, considering Abstergo is a huge company, and that there was some big purge(before AC1) of Assassins. Juno doesn't rule the world as of yet, and I don't think that even the Templars know about her, at least not in BF.

Reminder that Ezio killed the series by being too popular of a character. Before him Assassins Creed was going to be a series of games following diffferent assassins, culminating in CURRENT YEAR Desmond preventing the end of the world in 2012, Ezio's popularity ($$$) "forced" Ubi to expand on his story with 16 million sequels instead. So always remember Ezio killed Assassins Creed by being too well received, the only time in videogames I know of this happening. Without Ezio's popularity we'd have gone straight to AC3, then AC4, which would have probably been Desmond saving the world in current year (at the time, i.e. 2012)

However, Unity is probably very cheap now, and the graphics are great. Plus, you can have French audio.

Unity has my favorite open world of all the AC games, but the story is generally just ???. I liked the gameplay because of the new assassinations though, and it actually has a crouch button and the combat feels a lot more difficult than the other ACs I played. I would say it made some of the best changes to the series' gameplay in a while. I think they patched out all the dumb companion app shit too so you can actually get all the cool costumes and stuff.

It's odd how Black Flag was such a sleeper hit for most people. I remember playing it and thinking that ubisoft was back on the right track finally (excluding the real world missions)
Anyway my list

I feel like black flag, AC2 and Brotherhood were on the same level for quality. They all offered good narratives and great/fun gameplay and tried new things.
>AC3 and Rogue
The lesser quality (but still playable) would be AC 3 and Rogue. Rogue suffering only because its lower budget, it would have been great if it was given the same budget as Unity.

AC1 had its flaws, it still provided a great opening and narrative for the series (and if you could look past its flaws) was enjoyable. The same line of thought goes for revelations, though revelations suffers in the fact that the area they put you in is boring and the story uninteresting - it felt rushed and unnecessary. Both games to me place around the same.

Then comes Syndicate and Unity with its terrible storytelling and horrible gameplay mechanics. Both games offer beautiful areas but boring gameplay and story - also combined with the SJW shit starting to be pushed in them both with tranny characters.

I'm French and I can say Unity handled this era very poorly. The plot is basically Tempars vs. Assassins #3241 but with random NPC protesting in the background. Also the game runs and looks like shit.
They should have made a game located in Paris a century later, during La Belle Epoque (around 1900). The town would have been much more pretty and interesting to explore.
