I've beaten all the games on Serious but they were hands down the most annoying enemy in the game. I can dodge them fine, and a blast from the 2 barrel shotgun kills them instantly, it's just if for some reason some of your pellets don't hit and you don't kill it in one hit, it messes up your whole rhythm.
I remember 3 areas that took me the most tries and they all involved mass kleers.

Bulls were second worst. never had any problems with AAAAAAAAAAs.

Bulls? Bulls were totally fine. The part in the webm was quite bullshit, but due to little space and a massive crowd, not the enemy patterns themselves.

The most annoying enemies were the fucking frogs. Not very dangerous, but annoying as hell.

Sometimes I don't know how to feel about revenants. They are fair enough, but I wish their homing missiles were a little less homing sometimes. I hate when I think I dodged the missile and they make a 360 turn and you take the full blast in the back while you're dealing with other enemies on the front. I have other enemies to deal with I can't be playing explosive tag with a missile all day.

The animations have little oomf to them, and the level design which allows for clever enemy placement is completely lacking in a game like Serious Sam. I've tried playing one of the Sam games several times now, and each time I get to the three pyramids I get supremely fucking bored of mowing down a hoard of enemies with guns that have no weight to them.

i agree that some of the early weapons lack that oomf. the pump shotty especially. however the main weapons (chaingun, double barrel, rocket launcher, CAAAANOOOON) have a lot of weight to it. but my favorite is 3 and a lot of SS fans dont like 3 that much.

if the abstract level design of romero is what gets you pumped and the rather simplistic design of croteam bores you than yeah, its not your thing. and thats alright. some people fucking LOVE the exploration factor that romero fostered. i personally would rather get to the murdering of dudes. simplistic design allows for more murder and less exploring. romeros map design fucks with my brain, as it should. that isnt my thing and thats alright too. hope you can enjoy strafe when that comes out though. it looks to be more akin to romero map design than croat map design. not sure how you would enjoy the way the weapons work in that though. its rather limiting.

It's subjective, SS is trying to do massive armies as >>338304047 said. I might get told to git gud, but any time there are massive amounts of enemies in doom I get caught up on the level while I'm trying to strafe or backpedal. Icon of sin was frustrating to me.

Yeah, I watched the video too, but in practice it's not that effective because if I shoot them with the ssg they usually get staggered and they will shoot a missile right after even if i'm in their face. They will not try to punch me after staggering them. To be honest it's pretty situational but I usually just play peek a boo with the ssg in corners or stun-lock them with the plasma gun. If I have no other choice I will try to play punchout but more often than not it ends with me eating a rocket to the face.

Fans didn't like 3? I thought it was great, did a good job of capturing the fun of the original with a more modern and story driven design. I quite like that in modern releases of older games, rather than something like Doom 3 where it's a complete redesign with some elements loosely inspired by the original.

I thought SS2 would have been the most controversial. As a game in its own right I thought it was great fun, it was a decent length and had some great variety to it. But I didn't like how silly most of the enemy designs were and how none of them except the Kleers were from the original game. They ditched a lot of enemies that were somewhat iconic to the series, replacing them with stupid things like clockwork bulls or that stupid fucking clown which does the same thing as the headless kamikaze anyway.

well, a lot of them didnt. the hitscan was out of control and the first half of the game was recycled from croteams canceled attempt at a moderm military shooter. one of my friends dropped it at the halfway mark because of the one button finishers. i dont mind them at all because they're a ticket to your death past the first few levels. thank fuck croteam had the sense to make you vulnerable as fuck while doing them.

the lack of support for the sniper and laser gun was a personal disappointment. however SS3 remains as my favorite SS due to the last half being fucking amazing.

the big big one in the original where you have to steal shit to steal shit, invent a new skill jump and there are several agonizing moments where you're up on a wall inside a level and if you tall down you fuck the whooooole thing up, and then you have to jump over a door--! AND all the while you don't even REALLY know that you're going towards anything, it's just a several hours long string of "huh, but what if I did this.. I could see something new/get another box out.. maybe that'll help down the road.." that- solving that and getting the star- was the most satisfying thing I've ever done in a video game
