The freeze isn't what makes mei so good. It's the ice wall. The cooldown and duration on that thing are ridiculous. If you're close enough to get frozen you deserve it. It's like getting close enough to roadhog.

mei is shit. like literally shit. like the only character in the game that has abilities that can hamper your own team kinda shit.
her ice freeze is fucking garbage. winston and other tanks can dunk her ass at close range or at least escape it. her alt fire is the worst in the fucking game. at least syms goes through shields. any hitscan character dunks her at nearly all ranges.
her fucking ice wall is shit. no excuse. i lost count of how many meis kept putting up a fucking wall to destroy my line of sight or block my view for healing. if i wanted a character that could that could absorb damage. winston, reinhardt, and zarya do it all better. if i wanted area denial. ill take spamrat and pharah over her.
her ultimate manages to be garbage too. zarya's actually groups people in one spot pretty much instantly.
the only reason people get kills with her is because they are good players fighting against shit ones. try it against decent players and youll drop her like a rock.

Honestly besides the wall mei needs 200 hp. The ability to iceblock herself AND heal is kind of bullshit for a hero who already has more utility and damage than some others.

nah not really, her great weakpoint is movement. Her heal just is a nice present to the enemy teams ulti meter if she doesn't position herself out of danger.
People are forgetting that healing in OW is kind of a doubleedged sword if the survivability you gained doesn't help your team to secure an objective.

i don't really think with the current hero lineup, that ctf would be a pleasent experience.
They just weren't designed with that game mode in mind
Bastion is fine, if you get killed once and they're stupid enough to still be in the same spot, which surprisingly they tend to be, it's easy as shit to deal with them.
Mei however, I had a hard time figuring out. I didn't get a lot of time to play the beta, but some characters I couldn't figure out good ways to counter her with.
Lucio's backblast doesn't push her far enough to stop her freezing ray, only real option is to run.
In general, I kept getting frozen by her before I could really react.

Fucking this. I basically mained him for most of the Beta because I was trying to git gud as him, and even with all the healing and damage him being so weak really gimped my progress. Like, I switched to Bastion and leveled up at least twice as fast as I was when I was Zenyatta. He's a cool character, but they have to do something to make him more viable.

I wasn't claiming she can't be countered just jumped in the discussion.
She's really dangerous up close range and there aren't many heroes who can fight her there. Not saying she's invincible or anything.
The problem with stuff that counter her at range is that they need to have line of sight. And this counts for all heroes really so maybe I'm spewing some obvious bullshit. On most maps you can just jump behind a cover and Mei herself has 2 abilities to save her from trouble.

Yes that's why it's actually a good thing that her wall can fuck up her own team by being... well... a wall.
Because you can bait it, locking the enemy teams advance down and obscuring vision to establish your own flank.

Because she can shut down any other hero that doesn't have high and/or accurate DPS at close range. Even then if you understand Mei's down sides she is not enjoyable to fight against. There isn't another character in game that a loathe fighting against.

She can shut down any other hero "at close range that isn't McRee or Roadhog" would be more accurate.
But if you keep her at medium range she isn't a problem. Also she is weak against actively flanking snipers. Because if you attack her from two angles she can just wall against one and it isn't that hard to kill her before she can pop freezeheal
