It implies that it's automatically part of the over-arching series and canon, even though it's just a fan project. The only person who could decide to make the REAL Mother 4 is Itoi. Come up with an original title, maybe something like "Eagleland: Appropriate Subtitle" Or they could still call it Mother, but with an appropriate subtitle. I've played tons of fan games and can't think of any that have had the gall to be titled as a literal sequel. The closest are things like "Super Mario.
