I'm the opposite. I started drawing young and that took up all my time. I just got fed up with it. I would spend 60 hours on one piece trying to get it fucking right. I was terrible with slightly off poses. I just got angry with it and decided I would stop wasting my life on paper and at the end digital paper.
I quit all that and relaxed now I actually have fun in my life. Drawing was fun when I was shit at it. I could just draw. Once my skills started to take shape it became a hassle and a negative influence on my life.

each has its own strengths. tablet has the virtue of being able to just look cleaner with the help of layers. pencil is just all around faster period, and depending on your skill, you can achieve certain effects with pencil quicker just because you've known what you're doing with a pencil longer.

One of my friends at school was an amazing artist, and I was always in awe of whatever she did, so I tried to learn how to draw myself, but it just wasn't for me. I'm from /ic/ so I know why it's important to learn the basics before going for your anniemay style but that doesn't change the fact that there's no right way to do art. It's culture, the value of art is highly subjective. If drawing cartoons is what makes you happy, then that's what you should do.
Art doesn't need to be accurate or anatomically correct to be enjoyable. Those can make it enjoyable but they usually aren't what makes something great. What makes for good art, in my subjective view, is expression. Having a story to tell is far more important than knowing where the eye sockets go.
